I think there's been a ton of good news lately. I wish all of the conferences had stayed intact, Notre Dame had joined the Big 10, then maybe these big conferences could pick out a few deserving "mid major" teams to add into the big 6 conferences. But Nebraska and Colorado had to go and screw that all up.

*raises hand* I got one you need to see. :D

I know what your going to say and your right. Chapel Hill is beautiful as well.

:D

I cannot remember that second BCS NC game Texas was in. When was it?

Still say Mack Brown has done less with more. With the consistant amount of talent he has had and only one NC.

And the morons that keep looking down at the service academies are even dumber. YEs army has been bad for quite a while but look at what Navy has done; you might want to ask OSU and BC about Navy. And Air Force is no patsy either.

Then again you are not a UT fan, most UT fans are very happy with Mac Brown and the job he has done at Texas. Even after losing Vince Young Texas was still contending at a high level and competing for the National Title. Now that Colt is gone Texas will look to another young QB that Mac has brought to Texas and look to compete once again for a title.

I like their campus too.

Let's face it, regardless of where any of us stands in this matter, CU-Bolder wanted to join UC-Berkley and the Cali mindset. They've always related well with them culturally and politcally. A place like A&M (and especially Baylor) would not fit in too well in the Pac 10.

I had heard big things but was woefully disappointed. I drove up from Denver just to see it... stayed less than 2 hours and was back in Denver.

I drove past the dorms and thought I was in basic military housing... lol.

Then again the beautiful view of the mountains made all the rest of the scenery just dreary.

I actually really enjoyed my time in Denver and will visit again but was far from blown away by the campus.

I have visited Cal-Berkeley and the cities are somewhat similar but the universities are not even close. UT is actually a far better comparison to Berkeley and Cal which is probably why they really did consider the Pac 10.

No they would not. OU likewise IMO. Colorado was gone before last season was ever over. They as much as said so. They were talking about it when I was in Boulder September.

It's not just that, the feeling was mutual.

Colorado doesn't even offer half the competitive sports most teams in the Big 12 did. CU ranked nearly last in every category they even participated in.

By taking CU, Utah the Pac 10 is actually getting worse athletically.

Notre Dame wants to remain independent for money reasons. I wonder if the conferences want to stop it from being a rogue independent, if they could simply start refusing to schedule games with South Bend College? Sooner or later, Notre Dame would have to join a conference.

Utah's pretty good in both football and basketball...not sure about the other sports. Stanford seems to dominate the REALLY non-major sports like cross-country, water polo, etc while winning that Sears trophy each year.

as usual canadian is out to lunch on anything going on in the US. If the conferences tried that, lawsuit comes.

ND likes being independent. The last time they tried to join the Big 10 was back in the 20's or therabouts. Fielding Yost, a notorius Catholic hater, blackballed them. They have not wanted to or cared about joining one in FOOTBALL since then.

Well played.

Truth is, I've never been to Duke University so I can't really speak for it. I know that UNC is very beautiful so I'd imagine that Duke can not be far from the mark.

Notre Dame loses negotiating power each year they struggle in the major sports.

In the Big 12 they'd have a 20+ mil guarantee PLUS can create their own network. That network would probably be worth about twice the UT 3-5 mil per year is estimated. so we are talking ~30 mil per year for Notre Dame and a chance to recruit Texas and be the North's HAVE.

They're both beautiful, but Duke has the more consistent theme with the great stonework and trees. UNC is really something in Dogwood season.

Va Tech's stonework is well done too.

They finished 4th in mens basketball this year and were below .500 in baseball. In the Summer sports they generally stink. I know Van Horn and
Rick Majerus had good runs there but it's been a while.

They get trounced by TCU in sports but do offer the better tv market since TCU doesn't truly hold much of a share in DFW.

Athletically they were a top of the MWC football team but middling member elsewhere and they just moved to a much bigger conference. Colorado doesn't even compete in many sports to they certainly don't add much shine to the Pac-10. The Pac-10 does take a step forward in the winter sports to be sure. It's just that no one really watches those sports.

I like the Frogs, but I'm not so sure that Utah gets "trounced" by TCU in key sports.....
Here's some useless trivia:
Utah
Won MWC in football in 2008 (and 3 of last 7 years). They sell out every game too.
Won MWC basketball in 2008-2009 (and 5 of last 10 years)
Won MWC baseball in 2009.
Less importantly, the women's gymnastics team has won the NCAA title more times(9) than any school except Georgia...so they fit well in the Pac 10. Get this, they average 12700+ people to each gymnastics meet...which is nuts..

I actually wasn't talking about either of them. But I can't imagine they can compare with this.

I'd like to see the Big XII extend an invite to TCU. Their athletic teams are on the rise.

Yeah, Malibu is pretty nice. We used to have a Basketball Coach, Gary Colson, here at UNM that coached at Pepperdine. He was always one of my favorites. I always wondered why a guy would ever leave Pepperdine to come to UNM? Anyway, I've never been to the campus but it does look beautiful.
