I've been a Cowboys fan for 40+ years, and I will admit, I'm not comfortable with the thought that we'll win out.
I certainly hope we will, but yes, I will say it, the last couple of decades hasn't instilled any confidence.
In the 70s, some of the 80s and certainly the 90s, I along with probably every other Cowboys fan expected to compete for the playoffs and often, for a shot at the SB. Those days are gone.
Again, I love the Cowboys, but now, I get no comfort when Romo, Witten and the gang are lining up to compete for a playoff spot. I just don't, and it's not my fault. I, sadly, keep waiting for the other shoe to fall.
Recent history says it all, and truthfully, how can this defense instill anything but uncertainty? They're just not good, and the Eagles destroyed us on Thanksgiving.
I'm very pleased we've finally broken the 8-8 malaise, and I think the future is bright, assuming we land a young, stud QB to groom.
That said, I still hope things will turn and this will be the year we turn it around, and I'll be there watching like I have for the past 40+ years.
Hoping and praying that this time is different.
