Whole contract was guaranteed wasn't it?

Looks as though the original number would be correct with the entire contract guaranteed.

Guaranteed base salaries go to the new team if traded.

Bonuses stay with the original team if traded.

The "original" number would be the "if cut" number because then the guaranteed base salaries would hit the cap; whereas, they wouldn't hit the cap if he was traded.

Their numbers are incorrect. It's only a 1.2M cap increase to trade him.

This year. With another 5m next year in dead money which means we basically spend a million dollars over the next two seasons to get rid of him.

It is pointless to trade him. He'd probably be worth a 3rd or 4th round pick if just allowed to walk in free agency in 2 years.

You had me until the last sentence. Why would we hang on to him if he is playing poorly just for cheaps sake. I agree about his potential to the team and his value being nothing lower than a 2. OScan, even with his lack of ball awareness always showed cover ability and confidence of a vet. Young 'old man' type.

Scandrick was fairly handily beaten out by Mike Jenkins at one point.
They found a place to play Scandrick inside and he took off as a nickel corner.
They finally gave him another shot outside and he showed he can now do that too.

Mo is a far better prospect than Scandrick and should be given the chance to develop.
Very few guys come in at CB and shine day 1.

If they think his shoulder is going to cause trouble then I would favor a trade that benefits us. If they think he can play and will be healthy going into camp then I'd keep him. Perhaps they have their eyes on a CB to draft or elsewhere. That would tip the scales a little.

No, there is Zero dead money in 2015 if he is traded.

Waste of keystrokes.........I seriously can't believe most of the crap espn slings. Blogs just make them worse, IMO.

News media has become a big blog. TV is a video blog. The art of journalism is pretty much gone. Grantland used to be good...until ESPN bought it. And if you're Bill Simmons why would you say no to that kind of pay day?

If you could even get a third for him and could absorb ay additional hit, do it. Marinelli's system would rather have primarily zone CBs anyway instead of man-to-man ones.

Would be doing Mo a favor as well as I'm not sure he'll ever flourish in our current defensive system anyway.

Another bs rumor. Claiborne can hopefully excel with an upgraded dline. Can't expect corners and safeties to cover for 45 seconds when the pass rush doesn't work.

That's not a rumor. That's rank speculation that contains the phrase "Dallas Cowboys."

I was just about to post the same thing. Maybe we need to post a forum dictionary.

Rumor: "Team A and Team B are talking about trading player x for player z or picks"
Speculation: "A team somewhere has a hole to fill and I have clicks to generate, therefore the Cowboys will trade their player to get people to click on my article"

Sorry but that's not possible. He was given a salary cap bonus and that doesn't dry up and go away.
The bonus is divided over all 4(or 5 if that exists) years of the contract.
Cliaborne costs 2.6m pro-rated bonus money in 2015. His base is also 2.6m so the team would break even. ---2.6 off books and 2.6 in dead money.
We'd pay ~1m more this year.

Again you can't use OTC for anything involving time or future money.
You can however rely on basic math. He was given 10.2M in signing bonus divided evenly over 4 years.

Sniff, sniff....that's the smell of us getting hosed again, just stand pat. Who knows, maybe he breaks out this year, then you have lots of options.

Claiborne just bought his first home in the Dallas area. I know who his Realtor was. She told me he is in fantastic shape, and is working his rear end off because he wants to kill the bust label. He's very aware of what people are saying and has a chip on his shoulder to quiet his critics.

Don't know about anyone else, but that was encouraging to me.
