It's called a West Coast Offense. Romo isn't a donwfield passer. He's a short and intermediate timing route passer.

How many people will call for him to be here?

Never mind the so-so record in Tampa... He scowls and cusses and stuff.

Plenty.

I could see Jerra getting interested on this turn of events.

I hope Jerra makes his move.

History will record that when Shanahan, Gruden and Spagnuolo were available, he passed and kept . . . gasp! the Clown Wade Phillips.

Broaddus on Gruden:

-- Worked with him at Philly when he was QB coach and Broaddus scouted for them.

-- Very hard working and innovative, but goes through QBs like crazy. Can't make up his mind on them, and not the best at developing them. Loved Bobby Hoying in Philly.

-- Is one of those guys that people get tired of in about three years. Kind of an odd bird, and all the energy and the "attaboys" are followed by complaining and even backstabbing. (Not said with malice, but matter-of-factly.)

-- Thinks Shanahan would be a better choice here because he'd be better at developing Romo.

Now Mosley comes on after making some calls to Valley Ranch and says we let Garrett go. Says if RJ goes, this makes Valley Ranch think hard about Shanahan.
Shanahan and Sean Payton both are alumni of Eastern Illinois like Romo.

Wow.

Just heard on NFL Network.

If Jerra's heart beat hard for Red, imagine how jerra's heart will be beating for Gruden.
If I were Wade (I'd resign) I would spend a sleepless night tonight.

This is an explosive team and you'd be hiring a guy that gets away from the run and dinks and dunks the entire game.

We want to run the ball more right?

He is Young firery guy. That is it.

Shannahan is a 10X better coach then this guy and a much better playcaller.

If the choice is between Gruden and Shannahan, my answer is Shanny (although it's pretty close).

If the choice is between Gruden and Sherman/Wade, my answer is Gruden.

And I do think Romo would be awesome in the WCO. I've always said he reminded me of Montana with the quick release, his ability to roll out and throw accurately on the run. It would be a much better fit for him than the system Garrett was trying to force him into and try to turn him into an Aikman clone.

What about Gruden or Garrett?

I'd stick with Garrett because at least we will stay aggressive on offense and run the ball a lot more than we would with Gruden.

I was just thinking that it's kind of interesting that if Garrett is indeed leaving, that JJ would decide to keep Wade (potentially) over promoting Garrett to HC.

Uhm, as someone who's had Joey Galloway and Antonio Bryant on my fantasy team the last few years, I would have to decisively say the Bucs in fact do not run dinks and dunks the entire game. They take shots down the field.

They just don't stupidly run 7 step drops and 30 yard routes downfield on 3rd and 2 like "Boy Genius" did against great blitzing teams like the Eagles, Ravens and Steelers, getting his QB killed.

Watch the games please.

Its what he does and its been one of the biggest complaints about him for years.

His offensives are overly conservative and he goes away from the run.

I agree Dallas needs more short passes in their offense but getting Gruden would mean selling out to that philosiphy.

I have watched the games. And I've watched Joey Galloway among the league leaders in yards per catch in 2006 and 2007 in the 17.+ area, and then watched Antonio Bryant put up 15 ypc filling in for him this year.

Gruden lost to us this year without Romo.

He only put up 13 on the Broncos defense.

He is as conservative as it gets in the NFL.

We do need to implement more short passes but don't take the big play out of Dallas.

i gotta say i was absolutely shocked that Gruden was fired but i guess that's what losing to the pathetic Raiders at home with a playoff game on the line does to u... i have a lot of respect for Gruden but if we get a new HC it must be Shanahan!!!! i wouldnt mind Gruden as a possible OC but im not sure he would go for it...
