Yup. And I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that if we had taken Watkins in the 3rd and Hatcher in the 5th, the response to our draft would have been significantly more positive, from both fans and the media. We'd have addressed 2 out of 3 of our major needs on day 1 with premier starting-quality playmakers, and nobody would have considered Watkins a reach in the 3rd.

Yet, even with the exact same combination of players added to the roster, we get knocked because we didn't take a safety in the first 3 rounds and some people hadn't heard of Jason Hatcher. But the thing is, we were gambling that we'd find a good safety later in the draft, and we were right. And based on reports about the Saints, Hatcher wouldn't have lasted nearly as long.
