Newman - how many have faith?

When Healthy Newman is as far as I can see in the TOP 2-3 CBs in the League. The raider guy might be the best right now.

Only REAL MORONS fixate on INTERCEPTIONS.

Exactly.....those people obviously dont watch football/ever played it, or understand the game

those are the same people who think TD's and ints are the only things that matter...

If you dont have those you suck

i think he is....that or very ignorant, or just being stubborn

The man is top 5 hands down......face it,dadymat is a sports center type of guy, ints matter to him, and running picks back, we all should know by the way he talks, he has never played a sport, or football a day in his life, and does not watch any other games but cowboy games, except sports center, because if he did, and he seen the plays other corners give up, he would see just hot good Newman really is, in a league thats set up to protect the WR

climb down from the pedestal, my opinion is just as important as yours ....just because its different dont make you a genius in any ones mind but your own......

and unless you are an NFL player then you are officially speaking from your rear end

Calm down. I'm not talking about 4 years ago.

ddadymat is just another newbie who knows nothing beyond the last 2 years.
Sad to see so many of them flapping their gums about things they know squat about.

my Cowboy fandome goes back 30 years .........sorry i have better things to do than rack up 20,000 posts on a message board

no dadymat you have shown your lack of attention to the facts and rightfully got owned for it. You evaluate a player on their entire career not just the last two seasons. Anything else is is for idiots. And your lack of knowledge on what Newman accomplished in his entire career was exposed for all to see.

NO burma you have shown yourself what ever it is you wanted to see.....I got owned on nothing.... i was stating my opinion and since you disagree you are attacking me ....and i would just love to hear what qualifies you as a scholar on the matters at hand......I suppose since you watch it that makes you an expert....huh.....in your defense of a player you like you have let it get to you for some reason....I stated my opinion along with a few unarguable FACTS and for that you attack me.....I said he missed 11 games in 2 years ...true in 2 years he has missed time in 11 games.....I said he's never had more than 4 Ints ...True.......and I said he only returned 1 ....also true........so what have i said that was un factual......nothing....so crawl back into your hole

the guy asked if we had faith in his durabilty this season...........my OPINION is NO.......if you disagree, i would happily like to hear why.....

so please come up with something better than the typical calling someone an idiot, or stupid for not having your self proclaimed absolute knowledge

IMO, he is a bigger play-maker than Newman.

Based on what?

Guess Scandrick is the shiny new toy of the year.

Until he gets significant playing time and gives up a couple of catches in a game... When he'll instantly turn to garbage.

Newman is far from the best 2 or 3 in the league. He's a top 10, maybe at 9.

As far as Scandrick is concerned, he made play after play last year as a rookie.

Newman, for a top 10 pick should be scooping up INT after INT, or at least shutting his side of the field down at his age.

ok, who are they? who's better than him?

I like Scandrick, he came in as a 5th rd pick and did a quality job playing a tough position. But your statement is major revisionist history. He actually made very few plays. He got no ints...he was credited with only 4 PD's...he got no tackles for loss...only one sack...no forced fumbles...and he played quite a bit...to say he made "play after play" is pretty comical.

Well you have to get thrown at to get picks, and he gets targeted among the fewest times in the league for a starting CB. Wonder why that is? He rarely gives up a big play and doesnt give up many completions.

Newman's greatest attribute - his speed - is likely to wane over the next few years. He'll be 31 at the start of the season. In other words, nearing the end of his prime, if he isn't there already.

That's compounded by the fact that he's suffered significant injuries 2 years running.

Will he stay healthy and have another good year? Likely. But the odds are, whether fans want to admit it or not, that he'll start slowing down and we'll see a declining player over the next few years. That's the way of the NFL. You don't cheat time for long.

We invested heavily in jenkins and scandrick, they have to step up if Newman goes down. Trading Henry shows that we have confidence in these guys IMO. I think your right in that we can't assume Newman will be healthy given his age and recent history, but we have other areas of need and i don't Free Agency is the awnser.

Actually Dallas only invested heavily in Jenkins because they only used a 5th on Scandrick, which at this point is an absolute steal!

So i guess the game sealin int vs washington, was nothing, he covers like crazy, forget ints, if you want a Hall, go watch Washinton....

gift int? lol wow..he baited the **** out the QB its cool though..by your standards all of baileys ints are gifts as well, because he does the same, baits QB's, but you wouldnt know that, i doubt you watch anything but the cowboys

No, not even close. The pick 6 against the Jets, in a 34-7 route, was a gift. He undercut an out route, and walked into the endzone basically.

The pick against the Skins was Newman in good position, but more a poor throw by Campbell than a great play by Newman.

I'm glad this thread is starting to help sway this perception that some of our players are untouchable and can't be ridiculed. I love Newman as a person, and when he is healthy - there aren't many better.

I like him for being a tough guy and playing through injuries, but very often I think he and we use that as an excuse entirely too much. You're our top shut down corner, we paid like you're one of the 5 best in the league - make a couple of plays please.
