Scandrick is the weak link in the defense and I'm sure Brees knows this too.
I hope the kid is just going through a bad phase this year.....

Scandrick has had some rough outings the best part for him is he will have his chances this weekend to make some plays vs NO. I expect Brees to test him I also look at that as an opportunity for Scandrick

of our defense. Constantly beaten by his guy on 3rd and longs. On the few occasions he is in the guys hip pocket he has zero ball skills to make a play.

Honestly how many times have we seen 3rd and long and Newmans guy making a play. Yesterday was just unforgivable, make a stop there and there is no TD to Gates.

How good would this defense be with another Jenkins at the other corner. Jenkins is always on his guy, makes plays on the ball and usually at the worst the catches are contested.

Next year CB #1 or top FA and put Newman in the slot or maybe FS.
Bull ****. In case you didn't notice Jenkins was burned for big plays too . They made plays, they were beat on some that's the way it goes sometimes. The chargers are a very good team offensively and you see why.
It can't be that the other team has a qb playing at an extremely high level with 6'5" receivers who are both fast and catch the ball well.
It has to be that the Cowboys suck etc... :bang2:

If Scandrick doesn't play a VERY solid game versus their slot receiver Saturday it will be very, very ugly. When the defense is blitzing and has those 3rd & long situations and Scandrick get's burnt you can almost sense the frustration.
Hopefully the guy has a great game and gets a pick (or two) :D

Really, really dumb. But more than that, they're loud and entitled, too. It's a noxious combination.

Just because a gang of people handles disappointment by blaming literally everyone and everything that moves, it doesn't make them prescient when, eventually, something goes wrong. If you swing your hammer at everything, you're bound to get a nail once in a while. No point in doing a victory dance when that happens.

Similarly, just because a team loses two games in back to back weeks to good teams, it doesn't mean that team has given up or that it's done for the year. Show even a hint of backbone, for heaven's sake. It's really pathetic to watch you all mail it in so early.

I'm not sure what TNew's stats are, but he does get schooled on too many big plays. I like him alot, but if you watch him in coverage, he gets turned around ALOT and does try and rely on his athletic ability to recover. Most times he doesn't. His man to man skills aren't great, but pretty good. He also drops his man coverage far too early at times or just flat out is unaware of where the field is and what his safeties have to cover in hopes of jumping something in the soft area of the zone. The problem is that you aren't likely to change aplayer with diminishing skills, and TNEW is just that. As much as I hate to say it, Jenkins is the best corner out there....especially in man coverage. For the record, Ball didn't do that bad as safety. I think I would be ok with some work at corner too. He didn't seem to ever be out of position and looked pretty quick.

The guy can tackle and he has all the phisical tools to be a top CB, but no one on the cowboys defense gives up more big plays, week after week, than Newman. It seems like he always makes, at least one, mental mistake during the game. We do need a change next year, but I wold rather pick an OL, high in the draft than an CB...

As much as I dog on Newman, he did pick six Delhomme week 3 to seal the game against Carolina.

And the pick to end the Commanders game last year.

I don't really disagree with the original poster that much because Newman, who can be a great CB does not come "ballin" every game like he should.

He has the ability and he can do it - we have seen it many times when he has shut guys down but I do think he is one of the problems - attitude wise with this team!

Jenkins played quite well. On a few occasions he was in great position but the QB-receiver combo was just too good.

Rivers QB rating is 103.7 but was limited to 89.6 on Sunday.

In case you hadn't noticed Rivers has been the single BEST Quarterback over the past 6 or 8 games. If you think because Jenkins got beat four, five or six times -- that this means anything...you aren't looking at what is the baseline for good corners around the league.

The Cowboys lost because they missed a field goal and couldn't punch it in from the 1. That and other missed opportunities are the bottom line.

You're my hero. :bow::bow::bow:

Only way you can make amends is by getting opportunities. I know Scandrick can do the job he has shown it before. I think this year he has had some pass completed on him when he was in excellent position and the QB just made a perfect pass and yes has also been burned. Only way I know of to regain some confidence is by going out and getting the chance to make plays.

Watching Denver vs unbeaten Colts on NFL Replay, Brandon breaks T.O.'s all-time single game reception record and it's pretty amazing barring that one damned catch that Newman pretty much took Brandon Marshall out of the game. The Colts absolutely could not cover that guy.

he makes big plays in big games. i'll take that any day over Newman.

Would you take Samuel gambling for a pick and getting roasted in his last Super Bowl (Tony Dungy talked about his gambling nature and how it hurt NE at times, like that SB) or dropping a pick that would have iced an undefeated season in that SB?

Or Samuel biting on double moves and letting his guy get wide open deep?

Or Samuel missing a tackle and letting the WR run 40+ yards for a TD like on Sunday?

Samuel is human, too.

This thread is a joke, but it's a free country.

Do you want to know why you are 0-2 in December and 8-5?

Felix Jones isn't getting the football enough.

He isn't the x factor that he should be.

Ask Phillips and Garrett why?

Who told you that Jenkins was better than Scandrick last year?

That was me.

Felix Jones is one of the best football players in the NFL.

USE HIM!

A lot of people have mentioned it. Newman is still a pretty good corner for most of the game. He does not let the reciever he is covering just explode for a lot of yards. And yes, in the Chargers game Jenkins also got beat just like Newman. The difference is when Newman gives up a big play it always seems to be at a time when we need him the most. In the Giants game, he gave up some plays when we needed him most, and in the Chargers game he gave up some plays when we needed him most. He just needs to realize that he needs to give 100% effort every snap, and treat every play as a critical one.

Maybe I don't get all the ins & outs of hwo the defense works, but...

On the "trick" play where LT lined up at QB and Rivers split out wide, why did Newman give him a 13-yard cushion? If zone was the call, why not at least have Newman break out of it and step up to the line oppose Rivers so that if they try anything with him, at least Newman's there to take him out of the play (in theory).

Maybe Dallas figured there could be a reverse to Jackson and Newman backed off so he could cover it, but ...really? that smart on that play?

I dunno, I just didn't see why they give the QB lined up at WR that much of a cushion. Whether you think he's part of the play or not, do what you can to ensure he's not part of the play.

Newman absolutely stinks! He is a chump. He will be exposed by Brees and NO soon enough.

And the Newman backers will then blame it on a) the coverage called, b) lack of pass rush, or c) he's injured.

It is never Newman's fault. He is a shutdown CB. Yada yada yada.

Did you ever watch the Cowboys before Newman was here? He's hardly a chump. He may not be one of the top CBs in the league any more (seems to be playing worse than he did the last 2 years, minus a couple of good picks), but he's no chump. He's as good as any CB the Saints, Patriots, Colts, or Vikings have. Every corner will give up some catches. For some reason he isn't always very aggressive and I don't think he trusts the safeties. I think just about any team in the league would make Newman a starter.

Ninja pretty much has spent every post he has made on this board bashing Newman. I stopped caring what he says a long time ago. Just another troll on the board. Newman is obviously not dominant but he is a good corner. If you argue he is being over paid then that is fine but if you think he sucks then I don't know what to tell you.
