Newman vs. Trufant

Based on those stats I posted above, going into this season, opponents had a 61.3 passer rating when throwing at Newman, compared to a 90.7 rating when throwing at Trufant.

(Those numbers don't include any interceptions another player -- such as a safety -- might have gotten on passes that targeted either Newman or Trufant. So the actual ratings might be a little lower for both, although most of the time they wouldn't deserve any statistical credit for another player's interception.)

This comment would seem a lot more wise if you had said it BEFORE he had caught a few more balls and received more credit, as in, his first Pro Bowl.
I understand, it's just that in his career we have seen Newman drop some easy INT's, if he makes a few of those the media would consider him one of the league's top CB's.

He was on Sports Illustrated's All-Pro team in 2005, on ESPN.com's All-Pro team in 2006 and is going to the Pro Bowl this season.

I think most media know by now that he's one of the league's top cornerbacks.

That INT of Trufant was almost a fair catch- a sailing floater that even stone hands Randal Williams would have caught.

Man Adam absolutely owned the orginal poster.

I guess it shows your dumb if you go over board after 1 game.

"Trufant gets a pick 6... Hes as good if not better than Newman"

lol it even sounds stupid.

I guess some people likes few flashy plays over substance. I'd take TNew over Trufant. While I think Trufant has had pretty good career, I would rather have TNew, who nearly shuts down his half of the field, even the stats favors TNew but some people sees few highlights of Trufant and they think he is an all-world CB, that he isn't, far from it.

One TD by Trufant is evidence? We have Newman and he doesn't stink, so why does this matter? Oh right, it doesn't.

Edit:

Scratch this statement. Did you see Adam lay down the law? He is the lawgiver.

Wow.

I can remember when our own fans were saying they would rather have Deangello Hall over Newman as well.
