Cowboys have spoken to agent and said they'd like to get a new deal with Ware. But Dallas has a little leverage as they dont have to rush it because they are under the cap. While Ware would rather have a deal sooner rather then later because most of the big spending happens right when FA starts. So a deal might get done before Tuesday.

Something that went by without alot of news, Mackenzey Bernadeau restructured his contract to free up more cap.

Ware should be restructured, he's living in Dallas and my bets are that he wants to stay a Cowboy.

It would be best to get Wares deal signed sooner than later, with a substantial Salary Cap increase the next round of Contracts for the NFL are going to get even more outrageously unbelievable.

Always liked incentive based deals, though they haven't been used in Big D.

Savvy little business maneuver there.

No restructure. Either pay cut or cut.

Honestly, if they push more money down the road, I'll have a BM on the PC.

As the calendar creeps towards June 2nd, Dallas will gain additional leverage because by that point teams will have filled many of their holes through FA and the draft (not too mention spending a lot of their available cap space) so by the beginning of June the availability of jobs that pay $6 mil per season (or more) will be much fewer than they are presently.

A restructure can result in a pay cut.

Have to push the guaranteed money down the road but you can make the backend a lot more friendly. I suspect they will compromise. I absolutely hate seeing our stars in another uniform. Dorsett, Smith and now maybe Ware.

I'd love him to stay and I think that a lot of that will depend on where his mind is on how much he should be getting paid....it doesn't help that the team has sucked in such frustrating fashion that he has to think there is no ring while wearing the star...there are so many factors in this decision

Cowboys didn't restructure Bernadeau deal. He took paycut but picked up $2m in guarantees over next 2 years. Lowered his cap figure in 14-15

Incentive based deals dont really happen anymore. Its been replaced with things like roster bonus, and workout bonuses.

Yeah, people like to say the Jones' dont know what theyre doing. But they basically took any leverage Ware's agent had away. Getting under the cap basically flipped his agent the bird. Basically we do this deal or we guarantee you Ware wont be getting a bigger deal elsewhere.

Yes, there is leverage. Maybe even will utilize it. But nowhere near as extreme as what you're suggesting IMO.
