Incentive based deals dont really happen anymore. Its been replaced with things like roster bonus, and workout bonuses.

I believe that Freeney's deal with SD last year had significant incentives.

Yeah, people like to say the Jones' dont know what theyre doing. But they basically took any leverage Ware's agent had away. Getting under the cap basically flipped his agent the bird. Basically we do this deal or we guarantee you Ware wont be getting a bigger deal elsewhere.

I will give JJ credit for being able to not restructure Carr to get under the cap (which I thought was much more essential than it turned out to be) while restructuring based off of performance (Mack). I'm ok with letting Ware go for the future money that is needed to invest in improving the quality youth on the team.

5 yr. 102 mil. 26 mil guarantee. Gitter done JJ.

For a player on the wrong side of 30 coming off all sorts of injuries and can only rush the passer and tied with Selvie for sacks last year?

No thanks.

This franchise will never learn to move on from the past. Other teams do it with no issue. Get some new blood in here.

I'd love him to stay and I think that a lot of that will depend on where his mind is on how much he should be getting paid....it doesn't help that the team has sucked in such frustrating fashion that he has to think there is no ring while wearing the star...there are so many factors in this decision

Yeah..

This is where we find out about Ware.

Ray Lewis had a similar career to Ware's.

Only in the last few years..they were able to put a team around him before he retired with 2 rings.

Ware needs to see the overall situation.

The team can't afford his deal at this point and has to afford new players to get him to a chance at rings.

So Ware needs to sit down and think.

If he thinks the team is not going to win..then go.

If it will..then he needs to stay and lend a hand.

The thing with Ware is that the league bases incentives off of the previous year. Since he hit career lows in sacks-6 and games played-13, he could easily beat those numbers. But since the incentives would be above those levels the league considers them 'Not likely to be Earned' and the cap hit wouldn't happen until after 2014. If they are 'Likely to be Earned' incentives the team has to keep cap room available during the entire year.

It could be a reasonable way to structure the contract that gives cap relief in 2014, but also gives Ware good money if he performs like he has before 2013.

6.9 mil after adding a minimum contract thats not on the top 51 against the cap.

But frees up 17 mil in 2015

I agree 100%....I know I'm almost alone here but I just want him gone. Use that money on someone else. At this point I think he's easily replaced with his age and injuries and his disappearing acts.........

Per Todd Archer on espn site

Cowboys have spoken to agent and said they'd like to get a new deal with Ware. But Dallas has a little leverage as they dont have to rush it because they are under the cap. While Ware would rather have a deal sooner rather then later because most of the big spending happens right when FA starts. So a deal might get done before Tuesday.

Something that went by without alot of news, Mackenzey Bernadeau restructured his contract to free up more cap.

We restructured the right player. Mackenzey is extremely valuable to the line. And he stepped up his game in 2013. Important news here in keeping him, and the restructure, no problem with having a versatile player onboard while getting us more space. As for the other guy mentioned. Cut him today and let him sign else ware.

Ware should be restructured, he's living in Dallas and my bets are that he wants to stay a Cowboy.

It would be best to get Wares deal signed sooner than later, with a substantial Salary Cap increase the next round of Contracts for the NFL are going to get even more outrageously unbelievable.

Always liked incentive based deals, though they haven't been used in Big D.

Relatively speaking, there's nothing "outrageous" about NFL contracts.

There best be a pay cut in this restructure............he is nowhere near worth his current contract.
