The single biggest hole in the organization that hasn't been (adequately) addressed is the future beyond Romo. If there is a QB available that we grade as a franchise player, you take him. I think Watson will be incredible in the NFL.

But then I advocated for this in the 2016 draft, and that didn't pan out.

I wanted a QB this year at 4. Didn't work out. They aren't gonna draft a guy this year and give up on him by next year or give up two years draft to get a top prospect without giving Dak a couple years. Not gonna happen

I don't think we draft a QB next year unless one falls that we just cant pass on. maybe in 2018 draft if Dak isnt developing.

2018 will likely have Josh Rosen in it. Next years qb group does not look terribly promising. Next year will feature Myles Garret (WDE) which would be a great pick if all of the Cowboys DEs are still suspended.

I'd put CB at the top of the needs list and it's probably the strength of next year's draft. Right there with RB.

I'd also have MLB really high up on the needs list. I think Jaylon is an OLB.

Not turning my nose up at a pass rusher until we've got someone putting up 10+ sacks somewhere. If we're 4-12 next year, the good news is there will likely be edge rushers.

I don't know why we wouldn't sign T Williams. He showed every team last year he isn't a #1 but he's fine in his role and he's from Dallas. He still had 52 for 840 with mostly chumps throwing to him. I suspect we'll sign him. Unless Dez has another injury plagued year, it's not a huge priority for me.

Hard to judge a draft class after the season. Impossible before. There was a time hackenberg was considered the top QB. The best qb's from last year need to show improvement this year and you never know who will have the light come on and light it up

I think we will make twill an offer but other teams see he is a good 2 so he will get offers. I'm hoping we have a WR on the roster who can take the next step. I really like whitehead as a return guy and hope he can take a big step as a reciever this year. I think fans under value twill who is a solid two
I agree jaylon is more of a OLB, he's not real big and has great speed. Lb will be a area to look at
You can't have too many pass rusher and CB is gonna be an issue

If we're gonna sell the farm for a QB, I'd rather wait another year and do it for Josh Rosen in 2018.

I dont think Daks presence does anything in terms of looking for a QB, unless he absolutely blows them away this year. Keep in mind he was practically a 5th round pick and they took him after striking out twice. I think he is looked purely as a backup unless he is proven otherwise

Dak is basically a 5th round pick. Thats back up country.

The Jets selected Petty in the third last year and too Hackenberger in the 2nd

Dak does very little in terms of finding Romos successor

If there are so many backs worthy of being picked in the 1st round, then that will benefit us too as it increases the chances of us getting a good player at a need position. :)

Go all in for qb Watson from Clemson period... he's the best in next years class and was the best QB this year too except he wasn't eligible but we are building up this roster and if we get Watson with Zeke and it jus wont be fair man

It won't be fair we contenders every year its

And this is the pick I would GLADLY over pay in the draft for considering our roster now how its built with the runtime line wr and sit behind Romo we good for years.... And we do pretty good in FA finding those gems after draft too cause of Jerry to... so next year I'm all in for Watson

just warning y'all before college season start

Picking #16
Trade draft of 2017 and rd1-2 picks of 2018 to trade up desperately for QB

Where you are drafted means nothing
Ask Tom Brady, or Romo.iwould have just as soon not take a QB after the top 3. But now that they did they aren't giving up on him in one year.
One of two things will happen at QB. We hit on Dak and all is great, or he isn't the future and in a couple years we use the better part of two drafts to get the future QB

QB and WR are going to be big needs. Kind of surprised we didn't take a WR this year. We could use another #2 / #3 receiver.

If Romo goes down again we could be back in the top 10 at least one of the next two years too.

WR, DB, and a developmental QB are probably the top priorities for next year. They should be okay in the interior line. Might need another outside pass rusher depending on whether anyone actually steps up this year. Could probably also use a Mike LB to replace McClain.

We already have a replacement for Leary, who may not make it out of training camp. There's also no rush for RT as long as Free can still play and (fingers crossed) Chaz Green isn't a complete dud.

Also, Witten isn't playing forever. If you draft a TE in 2017, he'll actually still be around once Witten retires.

Next year draft needs are:

DE - after this year, it will become crystal clear that we do not have a probowl caliber pass rusher. Yes yes yes we have a bunch of 2-7th round DEs coupled w some other teams practice squad guys and UDFAs. We got tons of backups but no SuperStud

CB - we need some starting caliber cbs. I would like for us to have at least one (1) CB who is rated in the top 5 in the NFL.

Safety - the clock has been ticking on church/ Wilcox. Time to upgrade

WR - dez will be 28 at this point. Time to groom a new #1 and get someone to replace street and Williams

TE- ok he can't play forever, let's replace him with a 265-280 lb guy that can catch with 4.55-4.65 speed with good blocking and route running skills. Don't want him shoe string tackled either.

QB - let's pick up a replacement. Time to groom someone

That was my argument for not taking Zeke this year. We picked RB in a year when there were so many available and even better options the following year that they weren't in demand. Maybe we can get a Jalen Ramsey next year. NOT!

Here is an argument for taking Zeke. With all of those backs next year, with us having ours now, that is more of the other positions falling to us as other teams take RBs higher in the draft.
