Cowboys: On ESPN, Jones was the first corner that Gruden praised for his tackling ability. He criticized and showed highlights of the earlier corners not being good tacklers. With Marinelli the Corners have to be good tacklers. I think the pick will work out, in some of the clips it looked like receivers were able to get him turned around but he had pretty quick recovery. The RKG is very important this year with all the guys with red flags. He was a safe pick with some position flex.

Commanders: Scherff looks like a pretty good player and was probably good value for the skins. If he ends up at guard, we got a lot better value with Martin last year.

Giants: I thought the Giants really reached again. The year we got Fred I thought they reaced also.

Eagles: I really hate taking a WR in the first unless he's a Dez Bryant type and I'm not sure Nelson is.

What's it going to be then, eh?

The Eagles pick was okay. Agholar is pro-ready IMO. With that said they're just replacing somebody (Maclin) they didn't necessarily need to get rid of. They would have been better off keeping Maclin IMO, and getting a Laken Tomlinson. (I may have an oline fetish in case you can't tell)

If the comparisons are true, they spent a first round choice on Robert Woods. Not that impressive.

Overall I liked the Giants pick the most, even though some may consider it the biggest reach.

Flowers is not there as a pass protector, but he is a very good run blocker. He will help them out.

The Commanders blew it by not adding the best defender in this draft. I am sure Callahan pushed for Scherff.

Yes, I don't see the USC receiver being any better than the USC receivers drafted in the 2nd round the past couple of years. I still don't see how you have the best player in the draft fall into your lap and not take him. But Callahan knows his OL's so it will probably work out.

After sleeping on it, I'd have it...

1. Commanders - Sherff is a beast and it shows a clear change in direction for that team. Great pick. I think he's an immediate top starter wherever they play him.

2. Giants - Maybe a little over drafted but Flowers probably had the most upside of any of the OL remaining and they have to get better there.

3. Cowboys - Very versatile DB who figured in the area selected.

4. Eagles - I didn't have Agholar in my top 50. I can't like this pick. I think he was a 2nd round talent. If WR was the preference Jaelen Strong was there for the taking. I believe that's a mistake.

The Skins made a really good pick. Scherff is a monster.
I love Jones, too tho.
And I think the Eagles taking a WR at 20 in a DEEP WR draft...meh.
Giants reached a tad.

I think everyone did fine. People are getting on Washington for passing on Williams but they needed OL and Scherff was slated to go in that range so it's not like they reached. Plus Washington has some decent DL guys already. So I can see making that move.

I think the Giants panicked a bit because they thought Scherff would slide to them. But they too needed OL help and while a small reach, Flowers wasn't a bad pick.

I can't complain about the Eagles pick too much. I like Agholor a lot. But they probably reached on him and with Strong and DGB and others at the time still on the board, I would have seriously considered trade down if I were them.

Like the Jones pick for us. Sure, Brown may have had more value but I buy into what Marinelli is selling and it's clear they don't think 1 Techs are worth first round values.

It seems like several teams saw what Dallas achieved by improving their O-Line and teams are starting to mimick us for a change.

picking at # 5, you should get a very good prospect. My hope is the Commanders don't get a Demarcus Ware type player at 5. Just with my limited reading and youtube scouting, I am glad they passed on Leonard Williams. While Scherrf may be a very good pick, I am fine with that compromise. If he is a guard or right tackle (even a great one), I would much rather they take this position than an elite defensive tackle. Both the Giants and the Commanders pick early in round two. They can really have the start of a nice draft if they make smart choices here.

I thought the Skins reached and they took the guy the Gnats wanted so they reached big time. Agholor probably should have been in the 2nd. There were better players on the board for each of them. Cowboys got the best guy available if you ding Gregory like everyone else did.(imo)

5 T/G Scherf
9 T/G Flowers
20 WR Algholor
27 CB Jones

Broaddus rank
9 T/G Scherf
24 T/G Flowers
34 WR Algholor
12 CB Jones

Gil Brandt rank
8 T/G Scherf
16 T/G Flowers
29 WR Algholor
28 CB Jones

I wonder if Broaddus rank had more to do with him knowing the Cowboys interest in Jones. I'm not a broaddus fan.

No rankings, but here are my comments:

I think the Commanders got a good player, but I'd ding them for leaving Leonard Williams on the board. I found the Giants pick a bit puzzling, given that they're a pass first team and they took a tackle that needs work in pass pro (though he's a run blocking beast). One could reasonably ding the Cowboys for leaving Brown and Gregory on the board, but I'm happy with the pick. The Eagles reached for Agholor, which doesn't mean that he won't end up being a good pick for them.

Giants needed offensive line, but drafted the wrong guy. Flowers was a reach.

Washington needs everything, but they did draft a guy like Zack Martin.

Philly drafted a punt returner.

Cowboys got a guy that wasn't supposed to be there, but so many need picks dropped him down to Dallas.

The Cowboys and Commanders improved last night. The Giants and Eagles treaded water.

Looks like the 4skins and Ants took a look at how investing in the O Line impacted the Cowboys season last year. I like Agholor as a player but dont know that was what was needed.

Scherff: Like former Hawkeye Riley Reiff, Scherff has measurables and traits to play tackle in the league but might be better suited to play guard. More powerful than explosive, Scherff is not a scheme-specific talent and can maul or move in run game. Road-grader with pancake-man potential, but has holes in his pass protection that will be exposed on the next level -- especially at tackle.

I agree very good player but if he ends up a Guard then as I have been told a number of times you don't select G that early in the draft, so is that still the case?

Great look at it another way. Puts it in perspective a bit.

Cowboys for value at the position we needed - big score.
Commanders could have traded down and gotten same level player.
Giants got player needed in their slot. Normal for them.
Eagles got an NFL ready player. Not a lot of up side after that.

The Commanders were able to find an impact o-line starter, which the team badly needs. Fills a need and is an incredible talent who will be a piece Bill Calahan gets to work with.

The obvious caveat is what everyone has said, the Commanders passed on Leonard Williams, which was a huge surprise to me. If he becomes a JJ Watt force, obviously it will be tough to swallow (even if Scherff is dominant)

If he is a Marcel Dareus like very good player, I can live with passing on him for a first round talent on the offensive line working with a very good o-line coach

All 3 guys east teams reached big time IMO.Screff is good but he is not even close to Zack martin level and we got him at 16. I like Flowers but he will not play LT in this league. The Eagles could have traded down and still got agholor.

You mean like when Jordan Matthews ran right through your defense for a 30 yard TD in the Thanksgiving game?

It shouldn't be news to Scandrick either way. Jackson and Maclin have been running past that guy for years.

Interesting use of the possessive. Did you just unwittingly expose yourself as an Eagles fan?
