NFC East is for the Cowboys to lose.

Barring injuries, and if we come together (like we obviously haven't yet), I agree with your opinion. We should have been up 17-0 on Jacksonville, and the 'Skins game was closer than it should have been because of all the dropped passes, penalties that gave them three points, and a rare special teams miscue.

I think the 'Boys have as good a shot to get to the SB as any team that would be considered a contender in either division. If the 'Boys can hit on all cylinders, gain the confidence that was so apparent on the early '90s teams (where the players believed that they would win every game), I think this team could win it all.

The only person I really have a few doubts about is Bledsoe.

But, like others have said, it's early in the season, and anything can happen.

Oh, and I don't think the Giants and 'Skins are that bad. They'll probably put up decent games against us. For some reason, they'll look woefully awful against other teams we can easily compete against, and then put their best game face against us when the time comes.

"At this point" = Not even 3 full weeks into the season

And if you had bothered to read my post instead of running your big mouth, you would see that I was speculating about how we could be looking good by the middle of the season. My post is wholly contained in focusing on the next 3-4 weeks. I said nothing about the Super Bowl or final records. There is nothing excessive or knee-jerk about looking at the next 3-4 weeks based on the first 3 weeks (and preseason and last season). But apparently you thought I was talking about the Superbowl or something when I was just talking about where we could be at the midpoint if we play well and these trends keep up.

But you wouldn't have known that because you like to pop off instead of reading something and considering it.

So you felt it necessary to open your mouth, but when asked to contribute anything of substance, you cower and try to obfuscate. Typical behavior coming from you.

Train wreck theory. You don't wanna look, but you just gotta. Like I said, the original post in this thread is so overreactive that it is not worth full scale anaylisis.

Which half of football are you referring to? My comment is based on last season, this preseason, and the first 3 games.

If the Giants werent getting beaten on like a rented mule, this thread would not exist. You know it and I know it, whether or not you choose to acknowledge it is frankly irrelavent.

I did? Where?

Right here:

The Eagles somehow lost to an awful Giants team.

Good teams don't lose 3 score leads in 8 minutes to "awful" teams (Though the Giants, as previously stated, are not "awful", so it's really moot either way).

I called them trash in general, and they are. There are worse teams in the NFL, but they are definitely both in the bottom 10 teams in the league, in my opinion, which I define as trash. I never said they were the worst 2 teams or anything of the like. But I think both would be lucky to have a winning record the way they look. I'd be happy to have you dispute what I said about their up-coming games you disagree with.

This is a prime example of your knee jerk nature in this thread. Saying both are bottom 10 at this point is idiocy. It would be one thing to say that Oakland or Green Bay or Detroit or San Francisco are pitiful, bottom 10 teams because it is blantantly obvious, but neither Washington or New York has looked as terrible as those teams and both will get better (Washington's offense, the Giants QB situation).

I know you won't get into specifics because you never do. You just run your mouth for the sole purpose of running your mouth.

No, I run my mouth for the purpose of arguing posts that I disagree with.

Whenever you are called on it, you end up embarrassing yourself in the subsequent discussion. And if I had to bet, I would bet that you originally commented based solely on the title of my post and never read the substance of my comments. Now you are trying to CYA and argue it. And after popping your mouth off further about how many things you think are wrong about it, you couldn't even do that.

Called on what? Did I hurt your feelings by refusing to waste my time breaking down the original post in thsi thread, which provided no substance whatsoever? Here, let me get you a tissue, nancy. Claiming there was any "substance" in that original post is an atrocity to posting in general.

Your an embarrassment to this board.

It's "you're", as in "That's you're opinion".

You have a bad memory. Pittsburgh was coming off a 15-1 season and the media was riding Seattle's nuts as bad as Carolina's. Just because Philadelphia was performing well doesn't mean others weren't predicting Seattle. What kind of logic is that?

It appears to be your memory that's lacking. Sure, there were some who predicted Pittsburgh or Seattle or both in the SB, but that can be said of half the teams in the NFL. The predominant favorites were New England and Philly (who still had TO at the time and he was still owning).

Pittsburgh and Indy were the next most favored AFC teams, but everyone thought they still wouldnt be able to get past the Patriots when they had to.

Seattle didnt emerge as the predominant NFC threat until midway through that unstoppable mid portion of the season they had.

Giants: Dont overlook this team. They have talent on both sides of the ball. I wouldnt look into this game too much. The skins went into the meadowlands last year and lost 35-0, yet, still managed to make the playoffs. They have a bye week next week, and will have time to turn this around.

Philly: I dont know how you think that the philly game is an expected win. They are a good, and have a lot of injuries right now. It should be interesting to see how they react once they reach the tough stretch of their season, but, I dont see them backing off anytime soon.

Commanders: Well, the Commanders are the Commanders, and I dont really know what to expect of them right now. Once healthy, they still have a SHOT at turning this thing around. But who knows.

The fact is, this is a long season, and a lot can happen. I dont see how you can claim this division yours after just 3 weeks. This division will be a fight to the end, no matter what teams are involved. All teams are talented, and all teams have the potential to beat anyone on their schedule. I would wait till at least the midpoint of the season before I make any accusations like this.

By the way, heavyhitta, props for sticking to your point, and adding a little bit of realism:bow:

cobra, when a Commanders fan is more level headed and realistic than you, it's time to put down the playstation, stop reading the knee jerk press clippings, and start reassesing your ability to judge football teams.

The Giants and Commanders have too much talent to suck all year. Now, I predicted the Commanders to go 7-9 or 8-8, but that's still a dangerous team, especially on the road in that nhostile enviroment. New York could very well end up competing for the division at some point, they have ALOT of talent.

Yeah, well, what can I say, my sig is half in jest as a response to the Horn fans constant knagging of my Aggie fandom. If A&M somehow did win the conference, I would be more than slightly surprised.

I'm sure you all see where this is going: the same place as any argument involving Heavy Hitta. He makes some stupid assertion, and when pressed, he obfuscates and tries to change the argument to some other point or attempts to change his position. He does it in every thread where he gets into an argument.

Perfect example:

Heavy Hitta: "It consisted of you calling the Eagles horribly average."
Me: "I did? Where?"
Heavy Hitta: "Right here: 'The Eagles somehow lost to an awful Giants team.'"

I'm sure each and every one of you can see his game in action there. Go back and read my initial comment. I said nothing of the sort. His referenced quote doesn't say what he claimed I said.

That's how this argument will proceed if I continue, which I will spare everyone by not doing so. I think everyone can see Heavy Hitta's Game of Brash Stupidity: he makes a reactionary comment, and when he is called on it, he tries to alter the argument or his position and do anything possible to argue, even when its clear to everyone he doesn't have a leg to stand on. And to top it off, he jumps over a typo in one word while ignoring the typos he makes (such as trying to jump on the "your" which I had corrected before he commented as soon as I noticed it, while he typed: "irrelavent," "blantantly," "thsi," and "anaylisis.")

I'm not going to waste my time with such garbage any further. I'm certain everyone can see his game. Furthermore, I'm certain that everyone can read my post and see what I was saying. I'm sure that if you read it, you will see that it was not reactionary or homerish or anything of the sort that Heavy Hitta is trying to cast it as. The comment stands for itself.

Dear Zone readers. Read my comment yourself. Then ask yourself whether this is a reasonble reaction to the post:

Any fair reader can see his shtick. I am confident you all can see that this is just a brash, bullying moron who wants nothing more to argue. And when he doesn't have something to argue against, he makes it up.

With that, I'm done with his garbage.

cobra, you watching the Giants? Seems to me that "trash" team is capable of playing fairly well.

I hardly think racking up points in garbage time when the game is decided is representative of the team. No more than the Skins "great drive" last week against us was indicative of what they are capable of offensively.

This is really comical, borderline hilarious. Because I disagreed with his post, this guy went out of his way to make an uneccesarily long post about how stupid, foolish and ignorant I am, completly abandoning the original point of this thread (I can't say I blame him, the original point wasnt much of anything at all).

The Seattle starters are still in, and they are still getting paid to play.

And the Giants were down by 17 with 9 minutes to go last week. This game isnt over.

Stay healthy and execute. Our team could be in the driver's seat.

i agree....hopefully we take care of business sunday and then beat philly, and watch the division fall in our favor. the birds do look to be like number 2 right now, but i am skeptical...they have only beaten cupcakes. we'll have to wait and see.

but even if we somehow do spot the birds 4-1 to our 2-2, that's not exactly an insurmountable lead, especially looking at the ea-girls schedule.

plus we would be tied at 1-1 in the division.

sure would be awesome to start them at 0-2 in the division with only one home divison game left, to our 2-0, wouldn't it?

It's speculation. Everyone does it. You look at the schedule and play..what if..

Everyone does before the season even starts. You mark down wins and loses of the teams based on how you think they are. How many teams that play the Texans this year...how many mark those as a win. I bet everyone did for the team they root for. And say, well we will win that one. And if (insert team here) loses, then we are a game up.

So not too off based of thinking.

man this thread sucks.

bunch of pissin and moanin

and anyone that predicts ANYTHING this early, and goes off, well just may be a little shortsighted. Speculate all you want, but this early is a waste to me IMHO.

go boyz

Grammar smack is more effective when your grammar is not wrong in the same post

It's your, as in your opinion

Not "you're" as in "you are opinion"
