NFC East is for the Cowboys to lose.

First of all - I don't think anyone can tell us now who will win this division. At the half-way point, the eagles should have quite the lead, since they have such an easy schedule, untill about Thanksgiving. The Cowboys on the other hand have a reasonably hard schedule until the last six weeks or so. The other two teams are in bad shape right now, but have some easy games ahead where they might be able to turn it around, and make a race out it. I think the worst team in the east might be at 8-8. Hope not, but it is possible.
I won't make any hard predictions on the east until about the first or second week of Dec.

Personally, I continue to think the Eagles are the team to beat in the NFC East because they have the best QB by far and probably the best coach.

I think it will come down to the Cowboys/Giants for 2nd place and a wild card birth. The Giants were pounded today, but I keep remembering how they owned us last year.

This will be an all year battle in the EAst...no one, including the Cowboys, will run away with it.
what are you talking about? yes the eagles have a better qb. but joe gibbs and bill parcells are better coaches then reid(check the rings) the giants owned us lastyear? if i recall we beat them the 1st time and lost the 2nd by a touchdown.

I hardly think racking up points in garbage time when the game is decided is representative of the team.

I hate to admit it, but I agree with what you're saying. In my case, the Eagles got sloppy and let the "last-ditch" efforts of the Giant pay off. But the truth of the matter is that we exposed the Giants in several ways.

I think that teams tend to become "careful" when they develope a padded lead in the game. They don't want to lose the lead so they revert back to basics and try to run the clock down. Too often, this translates Into letting opposing teams have the short yardage which can transition into big "YAC!"

At the end of the day, these are normally considered desperate levels of play that they should have Implemented long before a lead was established. I wouldn't support those efforts as a true measurement of a teams worth.

But I must say that it would be a dangerous team that could insert the "desperate level of playing ...throughout 60 minutes of official game time.

Amusing!

I'll refrain from making protections until we're actually above 500.

Who are you pretecting until we're above 500?

I think it too early in the season to think the east is ours for the taking. I fully expect things to get tight in the east before all is said and done. To look at any team this early in the year and feel that is as good as they are I think is a mistake

Hey Cobra,

Just what was wrong with your original post? I didn't have any problems with it.

At this VERY early point in the season there is no way to tell who is the class of the NFC East.

Frankly, I doubt there really is a "class" of the division, but rather 4 teams that have a reasonable chance to beat the others on any given Sunday.

I think the Skins are the least competative, but not so much they can be ruled out. The Eagles probably have the most proven roster, but they are coming off a bad year and have to "re-prove" themselves. The Giants and Cowboys are building and both have shown signs of being close to elite status, but both still have things to prove.

I think we are really the wild card - how well our defense gels may be the key, although the O-line is still a question mark.
