NFCE Remaining Schedule

I'm thinking that we need to win 5 out of 6, starting with a very tough game on Thursday.

IMO Cowboys only need to win 3 games to lock up the NFCE. No way the Commanders win out. The Giants would have finish 5-1 to tie. The Eagles could not win.

Agree on division, was more focused on #1 seed - as currently configured, I don't think the Seahawks lose another reg season game.

we need to win out to clench home field adv AND win the division with the way NYG and WAS are playing

PHI is donezo

We have reached the time of the year that if you are a serious contender to make it to the show you need to be playing your best ball. I don't see any of the remaining games even Tampa as a cake walk. Cowboys just need to remain focused and not get caught up in the hoop la that is taking place around there.

I'm thinking it's going to be tough just to win the division. A loss on Thursday and the Cowboys have a one game lead with 5 to play as long as the Giants handle the Browns as they should.

You'd think 9-1 would get you a little more breathing room.

Yes, I was saying that last week. We essentially have a one game lead because our loss was to the Giants. If we beat the Giants in the rematch it will help some with tie breakers. If we lose to the Giants we could easily lose the division. One game could be the difference between a first round bye and being the 5th seed as a wild card team.

Regarding the division, I think Philly can play spoiler by beating one of the other 3 contenders, but Philly is the least likely to win the division. They aren't playing well consistently. Their defense is tough, but they can't score enough points to win consistently unless they get some serious help scoring with their defense.

Any of the other NFC east teams are a threat to win the division, make a playoff run and get to the super bowl. The Giants are a real threat, but their lack of a running game could start to haunt them in their playoff hunt. They have a hell of a receiver corps. The Commanders receivers are almost as dangerous as the Giants and they have actually found a running game. Their rookie is for real.

The skins could easily go 0-3 over the next three games rather than 3-0.

I think we are lucky to be getting them on short rest traveling to our place. I don't want to see them make the playoffs. Hopefully Cousins reverts back to his old form. Barring that I that I think there will be 3 NFCE teams in the playoffs this year.

The NFCE is so good this year it will probably cost us the number 1 seed. If we manage to earn the number 1 seed, then the Super bowl will be a cakewalk. New England is lucky that Dallas, Seattle, Washington and New York are all on the other side of the bracket. There is little chance New England could easily beat two of them to advance to the Super Bowl and beat the third team to win it all. The Patriots are not the team to beat. They might be 4th or 5th at the writing of this post. They look quite vulnerable.

The way the Cowboys play on the road I'm fine with them not getting the #1 seed.

The important thing is we get the bye week for wildcard weekend.

No way I want to go to Seattle and play, if I have a choice it would be our home. I know we beat them there but why add to the drama. Home field advantage is real, let's hope we can capture and feature that in the playoffs.
I do agree it is going to be a battle royale for the east as games seldom go according to Hoyle. Like I said earlier we are a tough assignment to draw unless you are full strength on the Dline and can play that way for the entire game.

Our division is brutal and the records dont speak for themselves. Giants can easily get on top and Skins are doing good things with Philly always unpredictable and also have very few relative point against.
I have a really hard time believing in the Gnats. Every time I watch them it puzzles me how they got to 7 wins. Very plausible they drop 5 of their last 6 IMO.

Deadskins lucking out, the first place schedule actually cranked out a couple of below .500 bums for them. Hopefully one of them will step up.

i honestly doubt this, the Giants have a better record of "turning on the switch" than we do. Its not just going to come down to the players, which coach will have their team ready to go, and so far Garrett has only done that once. Yes thats more than McAdoo but less than Eli.

While the Giants have looked pretty mediocre against teams we dominated (Cinn, Chicago and Green Bay) they still are winning and will always play us tough. I wish they could get knocked out of the playoffs but unlikely for sure.

You're still on this? Dude. We have a 2 game lead over the giants. We can lose and they can win, still a 1 game lead. Brush up on your basic math.

Looking at Seattle's schedule, it's hard to imagine them losing more than one game. So we'll probably need 13 games to secure home field.

Yes they can run the table, but from what I see, they have 4 games that are very tough just because Seattle offense will struggle to put up points. It has shown that if you protect the football, make your field goals, get one or two tds, it will come down to a final drive.

3 wins locks up the division and a 1st rd bye. In the NFC standing the NFCE are in 3 of the top 4 positions.

Which means any team to jump the Cowboys would need to go 5-1 or run the table finishing 6-0 to get in a tie breaker. Think about that.

It is not going to happen.

I can see the Giants going 3-3 at best due to the fact that every team except for Cleveland and Philly are in a playoff race. I don't see them beating Pittsburgh, Dallas, and one of the divisional foes on the road. It is a toss up against Detroit.

Hopefully not shades of 2008 NE (11-5, miss the playoffs). That's a bit dramatic, as 11-5 should get us in, in some fashion, but still.

Like you said, Risen, 9-1 should give us some damn breathing room. Grrr!

When that poster the other day created that "Must Win" thread -- with the way the division (and Seattle) is playing -- this Turkey Day is a must win. I hope we shut that loud, obnoxious Cousins the hell up.

I think the "Must Win" mentality is great for this team. It keeps our edge.
I don't want a comfort atmosphere like the Panthers got last year. They basically rolled through the season and then thought they were going to walk through the Broncos in the Super Bowl.
I think one of the strengths of the 92-93 team is that they had to grind it out all season long. Then they had to take care of Philadelphia, who they beat up and then shocked the 49ers with a ground-and-pound philosophy.
We shouldn't be scared of not having an easy path. We need to continue to fight. That builds a good mentality going into the playoffs, especially with a young team.
