NFCE Remaining Schedule

I hope you are right. I just don't see them losing that many games. We could be 13 and 3 and not be NFC East champs.

We managed to fight and claw our way out of Pitt with a narrow 35-30 win.

The Giants having to go in there with no running game whatsoever to speak of will have a far tougher time of it than us. The last 3 Giants games I watched they have essentially given up trying to run the ball. Against the Bengals Eli put the ball up 44 times.

Eli is not gonna win 6 games in a row with his arm. That offense is often playing too out of balance right now like we used to, with Eli putting it up 35-40 times a game.

All 4 teams still have to play each other. Each will likely take at least one loss within those four games. Dallas needs to make sure that loss is not to the Giants.

So, you're suggesting that the player and coaches are all-in on losing? I mean, let's grant that you've studied the CLE front office and your conclusions are solid. That doesn't change who actually takes the field (... not the FO...) nor the motivation of those who take the field (... again, not the FO).

I have not studied Cleveland. It is common knowledge that Cleveland is using sabre (sp?) metrics as a tool to build their team from the ground up. Their priority is not to "win now". Do I think they would rather win an extra game or two and pick second or third? No way. They are "all in" on this money ball theory and are pretty much committed to a long term building of their team. They will maximize their pick by tanking if they have to. Moreover, it is the right thing to do strategically speaking.

Quite honestly, it gives them an advantage. It is a dirty secret that no one wants to talk about, but it is the smart play.

Oh you mean like trading next year's third rounder for the rights to give Jamie Collins a huge contract this offseason?

Yes. That's what I mean. They apparently thought that he was worth signing long term. Are you thinking they rented him for this year for a 3rd round pick, to piss off the pick? If so, I have a couple of business deals I would like to run by you. No way they did that to rent a guy to get one or two wins and let him walk. Are you seriously advocating that position with a straight face?

Hopefully not shades of 2008 NE (11-5, miss the playoffs). That's a bit dramatic, as 11-5 should get us in, in some fashion, but still.

Like you said, Risen, 9-1 should give us some damn breathing room. Grrr!

When that poster the other day created that "Must Win" thread -- with the way the division (and Seattle) is playing -- this Turkey Day is a must win. I hope we shut that loud, obnoxious Cousins the hell up.

Watch Sean Lee per your final point; sooner or later he is going to nail him - maybe on a bootleg...

I'll grant you that he is facing a lot of what we had to face, the difference is his defense is quite a bit stronger than ours was. Wouldn't you agree?

The Giants don't have the offense to hang 35 on the Steelers in their house like we did. Offensively the Steelers have the edge since they can throw the ball AND run it.

I don't think the Giants defense gives them that much of an edge in that game.

Giants are going to beat the Steelers, Their secondary is really bad.

I wouldn't bet on that game either way. I would stay away from it. The Steelers defense isn't the Steelers of old. The matchups are different betwen the Giants and Steelers than they were against us. Likewise you don't know which Giants or Steelers team will show up.

True. I am still very confident that Eli is not gonna win 6 games in a row with his arm alone. That unbalanced offense will catch up with them over the next 6 games.

The division is over, even if the Commanders win on the T-giving, unless the Cowboys collapse.

A team that can run the ball doesn't collapse.

The real battle is between the Giants-Commanders for the WC spots, and the Cowboys-Seahawks for the top spot.

I expect both the Giants and Commanders to make the playoffs. Both teams would rather play the NFC North champ, and preferably that being the Lions.

Not sure I want to see Cowboys in Seattle in frigid January.

Not that I want to face Seattle at home in the playoffs (for many reasons) but the average daytime high in Dallas in January is 47 degrees...

Guess what the average daytime high in January is for Seattle... 47 degrees. :p
(being on the west coast with the breeze coming in from the Pacific ocean can have a crazy way of normalizing temperatures)

My interest in the topic is pretty much exhausted, but I keep attempting... obviously, unsuccessfully... to remind you of the fact that the front office does not play the games, and that when players and coaches jobs are on the line, they are naturally motivated to show-up and attempt to win games. That's just the way it is. What do they care what the FO wants to do as a matter of big picture strategy? Answer: Nothing. They each may or may not be in CLE to ever see beyond this season. It is within their power to win vs. NYG, especially if NYG continues to be as vulnerable as they appeared to be last Sunday.

We basically have 1 free game to play with since 5-1 clinches HFA no matter what anybody else does.

Lose more than 1 game the rest of the season and it gets dicey, especially if we lose the rematch with the Giants. Its possible that we could be 13-3 and lose the division. Has that ever happened in the NFL?

Blogging The Boys had an item saying any combination of Cowboys wins and Commanders and Giants losses equaling 4 gets the Cowboys the NFCE.
