Okay. Then I misunderstood. I thought you said the video alone was clear cut proof.

If you're going to kick a player out of the league for life you damn sure better know without a doubt he's a legit two-time offender.

My stance would be unpopular. Which probably makes it right these days. Do nothing. Let the courts handle it.

Yah I can see where you would misunderstand that, I really didn't clarify enough. And I do agree with you that if you're handing down life time bans, you dang well better know there was domestic abuse that took place. If there's no obvious bruises, marks, witnesses, cameras, or anything else showing evidence of domestic abuse, then no way can you justify a lifetime ban solely on 'he said she said'. That would be completely asinine and hopefully we don't see this happen because that would be such a terrible thing.

Half the people that support this atrocity will feel differently when some crazy B has one of their team's star players kicked out of the league for life on some fabricated nonsense.

It's not a question of if but when.

There are innocent people in jail. That doesn't mean you get rid of all laws.

This new policy is hardly at the level of atrocity. There probably are a lot of things still left to be sorted out in these new rules, but the world has seen true atrocities and this doesn't come close.

I got a question for your guys, with this current ruling, would Dez have been suspended for the incident with his mom?

I believe intent will weigh just as heavily as any actual physical evidence.

"She hit me first"!

"You are such a liar...he hit me first"! lol

(Cat fights are fun to watch! In Jello.) Girls...

Members are focusing far too much on physical abuse. Domestic abuse goes much farther than alleged physical evidence (e.g. wounds) incurred by the victim:

http://www.justice.gov/ovw/domestic-violence

What is Domestic Violence?
We define domestic violence as a pattern of abusive behavior in any relationship that is used by one partner to gain or maintain power and control over another intimate partner. Domestic violence can be physical, sexual, emotional, economic, or psychological actions or threats of actions that influence another person. This includes any behaviors that intimidate, manipulate, humiliate, isolate, frighten, terrorize, coerce, threaten, blame, hurt, injure, or wound someone.

Click the link above for additional information about all forms of abuse that makes up domestic violence.

I would think a 6-month ban for the 1st, a year's ban for 2nd offense and lifetime for a third might be more fitting. Anyhow, whatever the case, it'll give the women abusers something serious to think about before doing it, that's for doggone sure.

In my opinion, yes. Unfortunately, people must try to remain rational even during irrational moments. And that equally goes for people who have a poor or zero understanding of what the terms rational and irrational means.

Your wife or girlfriend in a argument can walk up to you and spit in your face and you have to just take that for the team? Or like the time when the girl threw a drink in Pacman Jones' face and he hit her just out of reflex and she tried to sue him. Man I'm really concerned for Dez right now. He would be the one to get hit with this type of suspension with his temper.

Dumping or divorcing your wife or girlfriend for insulting you makes her suffer 100% and leaves you free to keep making bank. And finding other honeys.

I wish the public education system emphasized teaching legal concepts such as assault and/or battery.

True enough. That's why intelligence is a good thing.

lol Would you please explain that in laymen's terms?

Thoughts about the past = guilt

Thoughts about tomorrow = worry

Living for the moment = now. That's what I was taught.

So, don't be guilty of your past. It cannot be changed.

Don't worry about tomorrow. Keep doing what you are doing right now.

Rules, like laws, apply to everyone. Ignorance is not an excuse.

Having said that, there is a danger with dispensing punishment without properly investigating mitigating circumstances. This is where defining actual intent is so important. It may not alter or stop the punishment handed out, but knowing what happened can help the responsible party deal with what happens next.

There's a couple things at play here. Domestic violence victims can be shamed to keep quiet. Like the ex-girlfriend of Greg Oden. From what's been reported, he beat the hell out of her to the point his mom had to get him off her. She wasn't going to report it, because of who he is. It came out, because her friend said something in front of the police.

Soo, while I wouldn't subject myself to that, I get the point. You got a lot of girls who trying to get taken to the league. I knew a few in college. They try to be ride or die. They want to be wife'd up and will do everything for their man to get him to the league so THEY can get to the league. And once they get there, they will not want to jeopardize his career, even if he is the world's worst man.

Well, if she's such a gold-digger that her desire to be "in the league" outweighs her own self-esteem to the point where she's willing to stay quiet after being beaten, she deserves zero sympathy.

That's especially despicable if they have kids together, as you're now protecting a violent man who has access to children.

What if the wives and girlfriends are beating them with frying pans or baseball bats??? Tell me it doesn't happen, I dare you. And when that happens, sometimes the man is surprised and unable to extricate himself without retaliation. Is that ok or is there just no possible way any woman can threaten any man?? Careful with your response. I'm not talking about Rice's situation either because that was definately unnecessary but situations do arise.

Then WALK AWAY. LEAVE. Go to an outside phone and call 911. Unless your arms and legs are cut off.
