I think Chido has the best overall set of tools too. And I do hope it all finally comes together for him this year. We need him.

Stuff like this happens when you think it's 'OK' to let your veteran special teams coach leave and just give the job to the next guy left in the building.

That's what the Cowboys did on numerous occasions.

Bissacia leaves for the Raiders? Just hand the job to O'Quinn, who cares if he's never done it before at this level? How hard could it be?

Eberflus leaves to take the Colts DC job? Just give it to the last man standing here, Ben Bloom, who cares if he has no actual experience?

Yeah those moves were insane. Now In one season they got arguably one of the bette special teams coaches and got Nolan who’s speciality is linebackers. What are you thinking to basically think you don’t have to replace coaches with quality coaches.

In my honest opinion? They didn't know any. That's the bottom line. The Joneses certainly don't. The few they do know are now head coaches elsewhere or retired. And Garrett's 'rolodex' of coaching names could fit on a cocktail napkin. And he burned through everybody he knew while he was here. From Kiffen (Tampa) to Linehan (Miami) and their associates like Marinelli and Kellen Moore. Even Eberflus came here because of Rob Ryan, and by extension the aforementioned Ben Bloom. Garrett didn't know anybody or what good coaching looked like. So it came down to who he knew and then who they knew. A very small pool.

Look at the Paul Alexander debacle in particular. Garrett interviewed and could have had Mike Solari. He was the offensive line coach here long ago and was on past successful teams (like the Harbaugh 49'ers teams). But, rather than hire him, Garrett chose Alexander. Why? Because his idiot brother John Garrett knew him from their time together in Cincinnati. So what happened? Solari turns around the Seahawks offensive line and Alexander ruins ours before he's quickly fired.

    Thanks again Jason!

Primarily just goes to show how many draft picks fail.

If these new used linemen can get some consistent pressure, Awuzie might look a lot better. Nothing helps a corner out more.

Plus, I'm not sure Richard's corner technique fit him as well as it did Jones. I guess we'll find out this year.

Although a good GM wouldn't have done that, I think this is the difference in having a real head coach and Garrett. No head coach worth his salt is going to just accept last man standing, they are going to go out like McCarthy did and put together a staff that has a track record.

It's surprising how many people here don't have a realistic grasp of CB play.

At that point in the draft, even *if* Watt turned out to be just a pass rush specialist, he was worth it.

Especially off that we took a WKG instead. I think the whole "dline whisperer" thing went to management's head. And Marinelli's. Same thing with Hill. We drafted for physical traits alone.

I’m not sifting through all the garbage... is someone actually trying to argue Jones wasn’t a great pick?

Because nobody else knew any better. Not Garrett, and certainly not the Joneses. They wanted to make investing in defense - and specifically defensive line - a priority. And they mistakenly trusted an old fool that the game has passed by, in making the decisions.

    Twice.

Collins I agree, I wouldn't argue Lewis either way.

We got Woods for future 5th, even if he was a backup that would have been a good pick. Rush threw all of three passes his rookie year, I think its a reach to put him on this (or any list really). LVE made the Pro Bowl as a late 1st, his issues last year were about the scheme and not his talent.

But would you want to make tha case that any of them got better the longer they've been here? Do anybody's numbers look better?

Rush had a phenomenal 2017 preseason. By 2018, we were rightfully calling for him to be cut.

As a rookie, Woods was playing safety, corner, slot, you name it. Three years later, he may not even start in 2020.

LVE had a better rookie season than a sophomore season. Show me where I'm wrong.

It's somewhere between possible and likely that listening to Garrett's same old robotic generic nonsense week after week, year after year lulls players into a state of apathy.

It was shocking to me just how stark it happened with the quarterbacks in particular.

For a team that had so many former quarterbacks on the coaching staff - Garrett, Linehan, Wilson - all of the quarterbacks got worse rather than better. Dak won since day one. But the others? They were all terrible here. When Romo wasn't out there changing plays and bailing the offense out, the offense, and the team's record, were absolutely pathetic.
