Are you freaking kidding me? Crawford and Bass. what has either one of them even done? neither have proved anything. and you are asking them to replace Ware? you guys are sickening.

I think Crawford and Bass have a good chance coming up with a collective 6 sacks for the year and at a fraction of the salary. It's not hard to replace that type of production.

Good luck with that. the Eagles, Giants and Commanders would all be happy to see that move. get real man.

Lol I never said they should replace Ware. I added to the discussion by stating who would replace him.

Personally, I would give Ware at least one more year. I think it's too early to cut him now,but if he underunderperforms this upcoming season, I would cut ties with him.

Ware should see this as a chance to get away. Sign in with another team close to making a run or already making runs....Denver?

And see if he cant do something in the playoffs. What exactly is he doing anymore at Dallas.???

It makes no sense...he should demand more money. They will cut him for sure.

Would be hilarious if he demanded more money and Jones gave it to him lol.

Whatever he's not going to be cut that is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Who writes this drivel.
Austin and ware alone are crippling are cap situation. Two of the worst value contracts in the NFL. Add in Ratliff, spencer franchised two years in a row and many other bad contracts handed out by jerrah.

If he doesn't take a drastic paycut, he should be cut. He is not worth paying 12.25mil for the 2014 season. Is he worth 2 mil per sack? No way, no how. If you look at it from a strictly business perspective, it's obvious what should happen. Either take a paycut or be gone. Take the 8 mil we save by letting ware go and sign a couple studs to help fix this dline. Paying older underachieving players is not going to work. The good organizations don't hang on to older players that underperform.

Terrance Newman comes to mind who has been great during his time with the Bengals so far.

He has been ok but his contract is far less than what he was making here... also, maybe being let go gave him a kick in the pants to know he couldn't be "injured" all the time and expect the team keep paying him. And to the argument... he isn't making 12 million while the team is struggling to be able to sign street free agents. Thats the issue.

Seattle proved that you don't have to spend that much money on a QB to win a championship. that Romo money could have been used to build a great defense.

If you think Wilson isn't going to command big money at the end of his ROOKIE contract then you may have a comprehension issue.

Fair enough, though he performed better than any of our CBs last season.. Ah well, we were all guilty of calling of calling for him to be cut. I can see something very similar happening with Ware. If he works at it he can definitely rebound next season.

To some extent that's absolutely correct.
The precedent is there to renegotiate deals downwards under "cap correction: tied to both mis-evaluation and this nasty CBA.

But Ware has 17.5 sacks the previous 2 years.
That's actually QUITE good.

Last year's 6 sacks are a concern. Tho it is fair to note that 6 sacks is still 25% more than Seattle starting WDE Chris Clemons made.

Free's play was atrocious and rated bottom of the league for a considerable length of time in his prime.
Ware's play was mediocre and only terrible by his own All Pro standards in an injury laden season.

The team should absolutely try to negotiate his salary downwards with the caveat being they have to account for what he's going to cost on the cap regardless.

Very few guys are going to get you 11.5 sacks.
That was good for 7th best in football last year.
Dallas would gladly pay a good deal for that.
How realistic a return to form is that?
That's how you decide how to handle him IMHO.

I understand what you are saying but it is about NEED as much or more than production, tho that is part of it. Ware's salary is a huge albatross. We as a team don't have any money to sign rookies, let alone free agents and cutting DWare's salary helps make that possible (he wont be the only one). If he was the final piece to a championship defense, most of us on here would be screaming to keep him but the problem is that we need a complete overhaul of our defense and need money to do it. To be fair in the other direction... the team might be doing him a favor by giving DWare an out. We are not going to be a championship contending team this year. This give Ware the opportunity to find a team and maybe win a championship before he retires.... hmmmm, something to think about no?

So wait a minute, so stats tell the whole story, or you don't watch the games? And when was the last time those pretty stats(dink and dunk) got us to the playoffs??

With even a middle of the pack defense last year, those pretty stats get us deep into the playoffs and you know it.

Ware disappears when it counts . I hear a lot of folks say Romo isn't clutch blah blah . Well ware absolutely disappears when this team needs him most . I want to cut him , save money , sign some high motor guys with some intensity .
