You can just watch the war room cam and see he isn't involved much at all.

He's eating fish and drinking ice tea when our picks are coming up.
Yeah, I don't buy it. He's still the GM and has final say over all decisions. I think this is just a preemptive strike and a way to throw in a pot shot at Jerry and shift all of the credit away from him if the team does in fact become "scary" good which is obviously still an open question.

Love how Jerry is always so defensive of not only Stephen, which is no surprise since he's the Father, but Garrett.. So defensive about Garrett, it's like he knows he sucks, but he loves him too much..

At least Stephen offers financial savvy, even if his personnel decisions suck.. The guy has been in that personnel position since 1997, so if he last learned anything by now, he's a lost cause.. It shouldn't surprise anybody of he makes a good decision once in awhile, but he's got a lot of years to make up for..

Yet, they keep saying they nearly came to blows over Johnny Manziel. How disruptive of a war room is that?

Reports came out that Dallas was tied between Ramsey and Zeke, and the former was higher on their board. Dallas went Zeke because of JERRY, like when Jerry squashed the Sharif Floyd pick and went Frederik...

Jerry is the key decision maker..

I thought Rod or Parcells, or Lacewell, or Switzer or some other relic got to Jerry's ear last and that's why they went with Fredbeard. Anyways, this is why no one fears the organization. They aren't organized.

We've got a long way to go, it'll all come down to how we handle life after Romo.

Jerry was not getting Manziel, even if he claimed it a year after the fact, when Dallas offense absolutely sucked without Romo and the team was getting blasted for how they handled the QB situation.. That whole nonsense was basically to project like they considered a QB..

He stated before that draft that wasn't even a possibility.

Rod did.. But the change happened in the board room by Jerry which threw the whole thing off.

Even Stephen admitted their was a disconnect between the personnel and coaches which caused the reported confusion in the war room.

The comical thing about the great Stephen Jones explanation is Marinelli was hired in like January, meaning four months up to the draft when they switched to the 4-3 already when Kiffin came on board as well. That means the personnel department was totally oblivious to what the coaches wanted, despite the whole defensive philosophy changing.

It's probably also why you can attribute the OL picks to Callahan, more than anybody else..

I tend to take the view that Jerry listens, but he's surrounded by self-serving idiots good at playing politics that prevent this organization from going anywhere.

Healthy Romo and a few more playmakers on defense are the big factors here. Those fall into place, sky's the limit.

That being said, while the roster might be rounding into shape, I still have questions about Garrett. I think he's just middle of the road in terms of head coaching acumen. Jerry loves Garrett but you have to wonder if 2016 is a disappointing season, would Stephen be more inclined to cut bait and influence his dad to move on and try to get someone in here that can maybe make something of Romo's last couple of years.

We had a chance to get those playmakers on defense this year, but we took a rb, and a linebacker who probably won't see the field this year.

Wait, does this mean that Jerry and Jason Garrett aren't the meaningless leaders that many fan's on this site have been beaten up for supporting through the obvious years of transitioning?

First question, ever stop long enough to actually notice the changes and youth/with talent just added to the roster?

Let's just put this in comparable terms...I want five Babe Ruths and the original Ty Cobb baseball cards or this was a wash out trading season.

And get this, my wife just said, 'Boo Hoo.'

If they could only put it together on the field. I started to tell this board in 2013 that this team is drafting better. I believe our biggest problem is the organization approach to training camp is to get out of it healthy. That damn sure was our biggest problem last season. Truth be told: we looked like crap the 2 games Romo played.

Our training camp approach has to change.

You brought up a good point and I have mentioned it in a couple threads myself. The offense looked really bad last year before Romo got hurt. They was very sluggish and sloppy . I think part of it was due to losing Murray and playing the crazy criminal. The posters that was against picking Zeke needs to rewatch those games. The offense looked much worse than the defense and injuries were not a factor. After the injuries, it was very easy to just say that injuries was the cause of the bad offense , but watching the first games will take away that excuse.
