The Dallas Cowboys’ loss in Sunday’s NFL playoff game is raising accusations that the game was rigged to ensure millions in gambling profits, which can easily dwarf television revenue and ticket sales.
In the fourth quarter of the Cowboys-Packers game, Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant made a huge catch on a fourth-and-2, moving the Cowboys near the goal line, but the referees overturned the play after initially calling it a catch.

Honestly, leagues fixing games in any sport wouldn't surprise me, particularly in the case of the NFL....but it's just so hard to make that kind of conclusion based on a couple of calls.

I wonder why there isn't the same outcry from the media and fans everywhere towards the Green Bay Packers and the obvious bias shown toward them that was spewed incessantly throughout the week about the Dallas Cowboys the preceding week?

Im sorry but I don't think he has a choice but certainly not his fault.

Just like he didn't have a choice when they took his catch away.

Alex Jones isn't exactly the type of guy I want to be on the case, even if it were to be true (which it is not).

The gambling profits thing doesn't jive.

First, for the most part the gambling lines are based on trying to find the mix of fans that will bet 50/50 on that particular line. Many people know that, but Vegas isn't quite as accurate as people think when it comes to that. Even still, the increased profit based on the margin of error isn't enough to put an actual fix on the game.

And I believe it would be illegal for a professional sports league to fix their games. Point shaving is very illegal and I believe is punishable by federal law. Fixing a game would be nothing more than a form of point shaving.

Lastly, this would be a poor way to fix a game.

When it comes to fixing a game, the fixers want a very sure thing. That's why basketball will always have a problem with point shaving...it's easy to find a starter on the team and get him to fix the game. In football, it is far different because 1 player could very well *not* change the outcome of the game.

In the Donaghy situation, he would eject key players from the game early on to ensure that he would win his bets. Here, we want until Dallas has 4 minutes left.

The call was horrible and it was far more punishing than the Lions call, but we still could have gotten the ball back with a lot of time left to go down and score. It's just not a sure way to fix a game.

And IIRC, the line was Green Bay -6. We were down by 5 when the play occurred and we ended up losing by 5. The only reason to 'fix' the game was to make sure that the Packers cover the spread which they weren't doing and didn't do in the end.
