And IIRC, the line was Green Bay -6. We were down by 5 when the play occurred and we ended up losing by 5. The only reason to 'fix' the game was to make sure that the Packers cover the spread which they weren't doing and didn't do in the end.

If this is true, then this whole conspiracy goes out the window.

I don't think it was fixed.

But the thing about the line being -6 is interesting. It allows GB to win the moneyline but not cover the spread, and for Dallas to cover but not the big payday of the upset on the moneyline. I feel like casual gamblers who liked GB would take the -6 to get closer to even money, and those liking Dallas would go for the moneyline win and the big payday. When you take GB on the moneyline you bet a lot to win little so you're tempted to do the -6.

I don't know, I think everything is supposed to be even for a casino either way and they make money on the vig percentage. But I also know upsets are supposed to be bad for them.

Exactly.....What are the chances a game ends w/ a 5 point difference? Maybe 500 to 1? A 1000 to 1? I find this so odd...it can't be by accident.

What is sad is that the refs performance outweighed the performance by both teams. NFL needs to get a clue and see that no one is talking about the game but about the refs and horrible call.
Cosign for the truth. In a multi-billion dollar industry they really need to do better. I watch a lot of football both college and professional and the officiating sucks all over but it especially sucks during Cowboy games. I won't spend another dime on merchandise until this crap changes. Better yet, I wills start buying bootleg paraphernalia instead of the official stuff that I normally buy.

If it was just a couple of calls...that's one thing. But there were numerous "no calls" .....late hits on Romo...shots to the head of the QB not called. Randell Cobbs horrible replay review(ball obviously hit the ground)....David Bakhtiari mugging Mincey. Green Bay's O-line not called for one single holding call.

That was perhaps the worst officated/ one sided game I have ever witnessed in my 38 years of watching NFL football.

I don't care if Green Bay had more penalties...10-87 to 5-35. They should have been called for twice that.

There is no doubt in my mind the outcome of that game was determined ever before the Cowboys plane left Dallas.:(

The NFL has an agenda of pushing QB play to the forefront.....Hence I won't be shocked to see a Colts/Packers Super Bowl.

Andrew Luck vs Aaron Rogers.... Super Bowl

Oh Boy!!!! Just another product the NFL can cram down the throats of the NFL consumer:confused:

This is ridiculous. The biggest draw in the NFL, by far, is a good Cowboys team. Cowboys Super Bowls out-draw ANY other two teams you put out there. It has always been like that and probably always will be. The Cowboys are the team everyone either loves or hates. There is no middle ground.

Add in the Romo factor, a player looking for redemption in the biggest game of the year. A player that everyone either loves or hates, just like the Cowboys, and the draw is even bigger. The viewership would be off the charts. The NFL would make far, far more money with a Cowboys/Patriots Super Bowl than any of the other 2 teams left in the playoffs. Period.

If the NFL was fixed to make money and draw viewers, the Cowboys would be in the Super Bowl constantly. We are too big a draw. Hell, we have been very bad to mediocre for the past 20 years almost and we STILL outdraw every other damn team out there.

What you are saying simply makes NO sense.

The Rooney family has and had major ties to gambling. Look how many shady games they won.

NFL Facing Accusations of Fixing Cowboys/Packers Game
Gambling profits easily dwarf television revenue and ticket sales

by Kit Daniels | Infowars.com | January 12, 2015

The Dallas Cowboys’ loss in Sunday’s NFL playoff game is raising accusations that the game was rigged to ensure millions in gambling profits, which can easily dwarf television revenue and ticket sales.
In the fourth quarter of the Cowboys-Packers game, Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant made a huge catch on a fourth-and-2, moving the Cowboys near the goal line, but the referees overturned the play after initially calling it a catch.

It is also interesting to note it’s not illegal for a league to fix its own games.

I do not think this is a legitimate story, but I assume it would have hit for Vegas in the over/under of 52. Only way a fix would have benefitted Vegas IMO.

I was screaming this Sunday night, but I honestly don't buy it. I think it was a bad call that didn't go our way (there's no way I can look at it without bias).

GB also had a ton of luck with the tipped catch to end the game and tipped FG end of the 1st half. They had one of those NYG type games where they didn't really deserve winning. (SF-NYG 2012)

Thank you for your honesty.

Not really. The NFL has every right to manufacture outcomes for the purpose of your entertainment. Were you entertained last Sunday?

Honestly though, I am pretty confident refs are given instruction on how to "sway" momentum for various reasons. Either to keep it competitive, or to allow an opportunity for a team to generate a comeback, kill momentum early with tacky calls (seen this a plenty),etc. I was thinking for $ reasons that this theory wouldn't make much sense (in this specific situation).

They don't make holding and PI/Def. Holding that discretionary for no reason..."holding and PI could be called on every play, but it isn't...o_O" It is a perfect defense in that the certain game changing calls are made discretionary and prone to human error (for instance, illegal block in the back is easy to see and call @ a fairly high rate vs. O holding/PI/D Holding). Everything can be justified after the fact due to that reason alone. (Tin foil hat was itchy):D

Indeed:

Why The NFL Needs The Dallas Cowboys in Super Bowl XLIX

If the NFL wants ratings, and the Cowboys draw better than any other team, then the NFL did a lousy job of ensuring those ratings!
