My own personal life.

I have worked for the two of the biggest financial institutions in the country over the few years and have had zero drug tests, much less a random test. Actually I haven't had a drug test since I stopped working entry level jobs. Employers that compete for employees are not forcing employees to randomly take a drug test.

The following article is two years old, I would assume that the rate is even lower now.

Fair enough. I can tell you that a lot of folks do get tested fairly regularly and that is my own personal experience.

Having said this, each person is responsible for their own lives. If you agree to sign an NFL contract, you know that it means testing. They do get compensated very, very well for it. It is what it is, to me. JMO

I completely agree.

If the employers feel a rule is outdated and needs to be changed(like a lot of employers across the country) then that is their right.

Players can use the non-THC creams for pain management.....most just want to get high

and? if it can help them feel good after taking a beating and it's less dangerous than booze and opioids than i don't see the issue.

That's true. They can look at it. I doubt this will pass, only because the NFL is very sensitive public opinion and honestly, they've been looking the other way for years now. I don't know why they would deal with this, in such a public way, when they can just continue to do business as they do. I mean, you seriously have to be an idiot to get caught in the NFL, as I understand it. Players get notified of testing. Even when it's supposed to be a secret, they get tipped off, from what I understand.

IDK....

I've experienced the same. Entry level positions or labor positions do a lot of screening. Once you got an office with a window, it's all gravy

and it is illegal and against the Collective Bargained rules of the NFL

rules is rules and if you fail the NFL drug test you are pretty stupid ...you just can't smoke from St Pattys Day to 4/20 when they test at OTAs.......pass the yearly test and then you can smoke all year

I don't think it will be passed anytime soon. The most I could see them do is throw out suspensions entirely. They can still fine the heck out of a player privately but publicly humiliating the player by suspending them does no one justice. Most of the time, when someone is suspended, the league does not even say what it is for, it is all labeled substance abuse unless a fan wants to dig a little deeper. In a perfect world, it would be up to the teams but I doubt the union will allow that.

The league is all about public opinion but...I just saw a poll the other day that well over 50 percent of Americans believe it should be legal. I would also believe that the percentage of people that believe it should be legal would be even higher in the 18-49 target demographic. It might not be a bad bandwagon for the NFL to jump on.

Obviously, different polls say different things, according to demographic of those polled. I will say this, 18-49 are not who pay out the big dollars for things like Season Ticket etc., normally. There are some moving parts that we probably do not see on this thing but as I said earlier, IDK, I think anybody who gets caught with weed is stupid to begin with. I mean, you know it's coming.

Once, while employed as a service technician with a fortune 500 gas company (11 years) they had monthly random drug screens, they would hand you the test kit and tell you to go to one of the company approved health care outfits,,, well, for 3 months IN A ROW they handed me the test kit,,, I damn near flipped out on them the 3rd consecutive time, screaming harassment, blah, blah, gonna file harassment charges ,hire an attorney, blah, blah, blah,,, they never tested me again,,,

Well, drug test results and punishments. I have always wondered if some high end high profile players...say QB's..well known front men..say Brady or Newton...would it be made public by the league so carelessly...would the league owners want, say Dree Brees or Philip Rivers, banned for a long period of time. Maybe, it would just disappear!?! It seems to be a fixed and rigged fight. Gregory is an example...nothing more. I really believe there is a double standard being used in pro sports. Everybody counts or nobody does.
