It was a back pedal because you said fans like to see players fail, then you said they don't actually like to see them fail, but they like to see them get busted for their actions. In any case, if they get busted for their actions and get suspended, and maybe even ultimately have their careers derailed, they do fail, and the team likely fails too. So it really doesn't make sense to say fans like to see them busted, but don't like seeing them fail.
As for me having no proof? Do I really need proof to indicate fans like to see the players and team they are fans of succeed?
Now, I will back pedal just a bit on my own and say that there are a very small % of fans that are just here to complain about everything, and that see nothing but gloom and doom all the time, and therefore get some joy out of Zeke having problems. What I would say about those people though is they are a very small minority, and not remotely representative of the overall fan base, or even the fans that aren't cutting Zeke a lot of slack in this thread. I think some online may think they are a bigger part of the fan base than they are because they are vocal and get attention (which is their goal), but they are really very small in number.
In my mind extremists don't count, whether they are on the eternally optimistic or pessimistic side, because neither of those extremes represent reality or the fan base. I truly believe most in this thread that aren't cutting Zeke much slack are doing so based on the fact that his actions can compromise his future and the success of the team. I have no doubt far and away most fans want Zeke to be great, and want the team to succeed, and frustration over that being jeopardized by bad decisions is what is driving the commentary. And really, is there any question that Zeke needs to make better decisions?
