Dallas, Green Bay, Oakland, Pittsburgh, and maybe San Francisco are the only teams that have a national following.

I would say Dallas, Green Bay, Oakland, Pittsburgh and maybe Miami. I don't think San Fran has a nationfal following...

Sort of a dumb question.

Nobody would even know the title "America's Team," if the Cowboys didn't exist.

What started as a name given to the team highlight video from 1979 by NFL Films has ballooned into a lightning rod of controversy over the past 28 years.

I guess it's something to talk about.

Exactly.... Who is today's Purple People eaters?

Who is today's Steel Curtain?

Who are today's Monsters of the Midway?

C'mon, the Cowboys ARE America's Team.

From a poll I remember, ESPN had a poll of people's favorite NFL team and Dallas won by a large margin with over 10% while San Fran was the only team to come close with over 6%.

The NFL Network and other networks do'nt hate the Dallas Cowboys. If anything they love them. Thats why they have a bunch of polls about us all the time. Thats why every network has Cowboy stories running alot more than any other team. Be honest, the Dallas Cowboys get more publicity than the New England Patriots and they are on pace to go undefeated. If that does'nt show you that we are America's Team nothing will .When you are on top people hate to love you. Quote the TO nevermore.

that is fairly cyclical. Whoever wins the Super Bowl in any given year is usually one of the top 3 teams in the country. Were the Colts highly ranked in the fans minds before Peyton Manning came around. Just bandwagoners. The yearly records of the COwboys, Packers, Steelers, and Raiders don't affect the following those teams have. They would fill up their stadiums at 1 and 10 as easily as they could at 10 and 1.

The poll was as recent as last year and the 49ers havent won a SB since 96. They have a strong legacy which gives them a strong following.

Harris does a poll every year and Dallas and Green bay have been in Top 5 since it started doing it in 1998.

This year, the Cowboys and Colts are #1.

Here is the link for the poll:

I went to a big youth sports event today near Seattle, with about 1,000 people there from about 20 different cities. I counted 14 people there wearing NFL gear -- six of those were wearing Cowboys stuff, five wearing Seahawks stuff, and one apiece for the Broncos, Panthers and Raiders (not wearing it, actually, since it was a blanket).

Again, this is in Washington, near Seattle -- and there were more people wearing Cowboys stuff than Seahawks stuff. And not a Patriots, Packers or Steelers item anywhere in sight.

What doesn that say about who is America's Team?

So do you always insult peoples physical atributes when you have nothing better to say? You must worried about this game huh? I mean why else would you come here to talk smack? Don't worry we will try to leave the old man alive, He may come away with a broken hip but he will be alive.

I am rather suprised you moved up from "suck" to "hurt the old man" smack. Way to "wow" your fellow Cowboy fans. They must be impressed.: Now go chew on someone else's ankles before I have to take that rolled up newspaper to you again.

I don't need nor do I try to impress anyone. The fact is that your team can only go as far as that old man's arm will take you and this little dream of yours comes to an end on thursday in dallas. You will still make the playoffs but you won't be facing us in the NFC championship because Favre will show his age in the playoffs. Sorry to bust your bubble but you guys are nothing more then this years Saints.

Oh and I hope you go 5 wide so we can end Favre's streak. How many straight games is that now?
