I am glad Moss is off the radar.
Hopefully Walker is off the radar.

It forces our "intelligent" move. We could have gotten real carried away with contracts for the above two.

Either go younger and early or IF Fitz was available then go ALL OUT for HIM.
Tell me you are glad January when we are losing in the first round of the playoffs again.we have done nothing to improve this team. other than add a 35 year old linebacker. Jerry you blew it.

dude chill out...the players signed so far have been paid ridiculous sums of money...it wasnt worth investing those kinds of cap figures into avg guys...we've got too many great young players of our own with contracts coming up...the best free agent moves we could have possibly made are the ones we did make...resigning Adams, tendering Barber at the highest level, franchising Hamling and tendering canty for a 1st rd pick...there isnt a team out there that got that kind of talent via free agency

or maybe you thought those moves were "free" or "dont count"

Do you seriously think Jerry should have shelled out that kind of Jack for Walker? Seriously?

Al Davis must have some serious health condition that makes it think hes only got a year or tow left. Seriously hes going to have a ton of bad contracts in a couple of years.

Wow, talk about overpaying for someone with questionable health. I'm a big fan of Walker if he's healthy, but since his health is questionable I'm glad the Cowboys didn't get too mixed up into this.

Here's the problem with your thinking. we had those players last year and still got beat in the first round again.if we bring the same team back this coming season. we are going to get beat again. the team is not good enough to win a championship. this is not about Walker. this is about Jerry not bringing in any new talent, other than a 35 year old linebacker.the draft will not fix everthing on this team.we needed a vet CB and WR, in free-agency. we have neither.Jerry is not getting it done.

Wide receiver Javon Walker, released by the Denver Broncos on Friday, agreed to a deal with the division-rival Oakland Raiders on Tuesday, a source told ESPN.com's Michael Smith.

The terms of the deal call for Walker to receive a six-year, $55 million contract that includes more than $16 million in guarantees and pays him roughly $27 million over the first three years of the deal.
Soon after being released, at least a third of the league reached out to the six-year veteran.
Injuries limited Walker to eight games last season and he finished with 26 catches for 287 yards and no touchdowns.
He started the season with two 100-yard games before missing two months following a third knee operation.
Beginning his career with the Packers, Walker played two seasons in Denver. He had 69 catches for 1,084 yards and eight TDs the first season. But the offseason was punctuated by tragedy. Involved in a drive-by shooting soon after the season ended, teammate Darrent Williams died in Walker's arms.

I guess we'll agree to disagree then...we're obviously going to have another influx of talent in the draft, and currently we're the only team with 2 first rd picks...and a 13-3 team at that...we had the 3rd youngest team in football last yr too...you are being way too myopic

Update [2008-3-4 22:1:13 by Dave Halprin (Grizz)]: Holy crap! Schefter is reporting it's a 6yr/$55 million contract with $16 million guaranteed. Ha! No thank you. It's become plain, the Raiders are certifiably insane as an organization.

Jiminy Cricket. That's absurd. I was slightly bummed until I read that.

While I agree WR is a big need this offseason, let's not forget the toughest game the Giants played on their way to winning the SB was Dallas. And Dallas outplayed them. It sucks we lost, but think about this....If Crayton just doesn't stop on that pattern or catches the balls that hit his hands, Dallas probably wins that game. Dallas shot themselves in the foot left and right in that game.

Cap room is an issue. The offseason is not over. Jerry signed Flozell. The starting lineup, minus J. Jones (no big loss) is back intact and Dallas will add 2 first round picks to the roster.

Let's also not lose sight of the fact TO was not 100% against the Giants either. And yes, if he's hurt next Jan, Dallas can't replace his production. Losing a player of that caliber would affect any team.

Who did the Giants add in FA last year?

Marion Barber
DeMarcus Ware
Tony Romo
Jason Witten
Jay Ratliff
Chris Canty
Anthony Spencer
Marcus Spears

All great young players who are not yet in their primes and will only improve from this year to next

Leonard Davis
Terrell Owens
Ken Hamlin
Terence Newman
Anthony Henry
Andre Gurode
Greg Ellis

All Pro-Bowl caliber players who played at a high level last year and show no signs of getting worse

This team would improve from last year to next if we kept our roster exactly the same. However, we have added a HOF linebacker, dropped our biggest liability in coverage since....well, ever, and we still have two first round picks.

There will be additional players cut later on by these teams who are spending like crazy. The teams that have stayed out of this mess will be in good shape to get decent players at a fair price. Just be patient.

i think jerry has done a great job... 13 pro bowlers on the roster and EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM is coming back. why would you overspend on bums.... most of these guys getting huge deals have never been to a pro bowl.... would you rather be the raiders?

Yes I was in favor of signing Walker but not at those numbers NO way!!!

There seems to be a feeling with these posts that one side wants to sign a FA WR and the opposition just wants to draft one.

We should actually do both. We need to draft one to groom a future behind our 35 year old starters. On the other hand, with this team, we can make a real run next year at this thing and we all know rookie WR rarely do much of anything. Having said that, I dont know who would come in and beat out Glenn or Crayton for playing time so I guess its on to the draft with no real immediate help at Wr.
