And won't that be a hoot when (if) they do? Boy, I can't wait. I was thinking about bailing on the NFL - but hell, if they're going to start dropping the hammer for minor offenses, I'm back on the wagon, baby. Because, what is sports about - if not the unmitigated satisfaction of seeing "thugs" punished?

With no bodies or injured people laying around, Goodell can afford to wait a while on Briggs.

That's fine.

Maybe you know Vick better than I do.: We're not on good enough terms for me to make that call. :D

In any case, his apology is what it is. It's meant to be accepted, that seems to be the right thing to do. Only time will tell if it was sincere.

It takes a little more than a 4 min apology to erase 6 yrs of killing and torturing dogs.

But thats just me.

I think Briggs was driving drunk when he crashed his car, but it's only that, an assumption, I'm not calling for the league to act on it or anything, just what I believe to be true unless I'm proven wrong

Oh, ok.

We weren't talking about that. But thanks anyway.

That is possible. I won't discount that possibility. It is also possible that he was out speeding and driving recklessly in a car that he could not handle. He lost control and crashed. That would be embarrassing especially since he knows many people will assume that alcohol could be involved. At this point it is probably going to be hard to prove anything alcohol related unless he was at a club and a bartender, bouncer or video camera spotted him drinking.

With all that to consider I don't see how Briggs situation has anything to do with the original premise of this thread that the NFL discipline policy is a joke.

Only Joke I see is dumb players willing to risk a great paying job doing what they like for some senseless actions on their part and yet we are suppose to feel sorry for them or only slap their hand when they go out and do something to embarrass the league. As far as I'm concerned it is not a right to play in the NFL it is a privilege and this league will survive with or without these idiots. It is all in the players hands, not Goodell

but the problem here is that since noone was around when he crashed his car, he had time to make up an excuse, another driver cut him off etc.

the disciplinary policy isn't a joke, and I don't see how this situation relates to it either, just I wanted to get on record since I was the 1st person to suggest that he was driving drunk

btw, I think everyone has come to the conclusion that Briggs wasn't driving responsibly when he crashed his car
