I'm not commenting on how good he is or not.

All I'm saying is that he would not write that he has a source on the team when he doesn't. A blatent lie such as this puts him out of business. And he would not take such a risk.

So I believe he has a source within the team. And that source told him what he reported. Time will tell whether that source and Rappoport will be correct or not.

How do you suppose he'd get caught not having a source? Witch hunt? Complete team repudiation? Having his reputation and national position actually leaves him with less scrutiny.

I am starting to lean towards his source being Miley Dancer though.

Like him or not, Rappaport is a nationa.ly recognized jounalist for the NFL. There are very few of them at his level. Glazer, Shefter, Mort. A few others.

To get to his level takes a ton of work. Years. To put his entire reputation and career on the line over Jaylon Smith seems like a stretch to me. Why does he say he has a source when he doesn't. If he's caught , he's finished. Would you take that risk? I would not. And I don't think he would either.
I did it with Bryants injury last season. Did he not?

I tried the excuse with my wife that 'According to sources, Avery was five hours late coming home last night due to a severe snowstorm that resulted in his Altima getting stuck, not passed out on Captain Morgan at Mark's house on his BarcaLounger.

I don't think it worked.

I like to believe we can all learn from past mistakes. :)

well i started the other thread to discuss medical info and get input from people who know what they are talking about.
i certainly got what i wanted...
after researching it and doc's input, i am perfectly satisfied until the next release of actual medical info (emgs are improving but still foot drop) instead of more over-simplification about 'it is firing' or 'it is not firing'.

i reposted doc's info here as a public service.
but that is about it from me beyond a couple minor posts. :muttley:
no more need to do any more google work until there is more medical results released.

Hanna just had a second surgery that ended any chance of playing this season
Ok. that makes sense. But if we were to take Rappaport's "report" at face value, shouldn't his statement mean that Smith also has no chance of playing this season? Why not do the same with Smith then.

Yes the odd are very low, but there has to be a difference.

Like I've been saying for weeks, he's not playing this season.
Does it make you feel good to point out the more likely outcome over and over? Everyone paying the slightest bit of attention to this story knows perfectly well that the odds are low. Are you expected some sort of praise if he's IR'ed in 3 weeks? Sanctimoniously predicting something that has about a 90-95% chance of being true, and doesn't win you any points.

Then why did we choose to not bring Hanna back? We had 3 guys on NFI and only brought back 2. What yo say makes sense, just genuinely curious .

Hanna had a 2nd knee surgery and was IR'd. There was zero possibility of him returning this year.

*oops - someone beat me to it. Too busy watching Detroit - Minny.

The Cowboys did not expect Smith to play this season. I'm not sure why some fans are surprised at this point.

The fact is, he may never play again. It was always a roll of the dice.

If we would stop rolling the dice in the second round we might have a defense on par with our offense where we've made smart, safe decisions with our draft picks.

Do you remember a while back when there was a thread sticky on top of the forum saying "Do not post anymore Tony Romo threads?
Can we have it for Jaylon Smith threads as well?

Hanna you're dealing with certain medicine. There was no ambiguity. He was done for the year.

Smith you're dealing with uncertain medicine. There is significant ambiguity. Why not ride it out for 3 weeks?

That's the difference.

Bad News = He's not playing this year
Good News = He's steadily improving
People seem to forget that it was questionable if the nerve would start to regenerate at all, so the fact that there's improvement is the best news we've gotten in a long time.

Cue the KJJ negative take.

He got smoked in a 50 yard dash by Charles Tapper. This was about 3 weeks ago. He won't be ready to play anytime soon, if ever.

The lack of progress is alarming though.

WHAT!

I"m stunned that Charles Tapper ran 50 yards!

...I'm serious.
