Or you might be too scared and angry to speak, or at least to feel confident that you can articulate your position without putting your reputation and livelihood at further risk.

Maybe but Tony Romo came out and had a press conference last year and poured his heart out, while at the same time reading every word off a cue card. He can do it too.

And that's what I like about Michael Irvin., Whenever he was accused he came out and denied it strongly. Now Zeke did come out and denied it last year but I think he's listening to his lawyers now.
You liked that? I have stories about Mikey in limos (one I was in) from when they were in Austin, but I bet you'd plug your ears and go LALALALALALALALALALALALALAAAA!!! to it.

Or even more to the point, you might take the advice of your lawyer and let them do the talking.

No one is perfect my man. Have you ever done anything you've had to apologize for? These guys are human just like the rest of us, no matter how much we want them to live to a higher standard. The overwhelming odds are that he'll serve some suspension and learn from it, and be smarter about what he does in his free time.
All I hope is for him to learn and become a better man. That is it and that is all.

No I know Mike's not a saint. I was angry at him a lot back in the day. But when he came out strong after he and Williams were accused of rape, I knew he was innocent. You can just tell the way he carried himself on that.

But that wasn't his only indiscretion...

I understand video of the fight showed hair-pulling and they concluded she could not have gotten the bruises at that point. But it isn't proof Elliott caused the bruises. The NFL has chosen to believe her, and so we find ourselves in a circle. And that is why I can't imagine a scenario in which her credibility is off limits to a man whose reputation will and already has been, to a large extent, irreparably harmed.
There was no video. The NFL concluded that the fight wasn't responsible for any bruises because the witnesses who said punches were thrown were unreliable. Of course one witness to that was a police officer. But they didn't mention that part.

True but this is quite a different circumstance. Every word Elliott says publicly will be parsed and very likely twisted to fit a variety of agendas. His demeanor will be judged. News stations might bring in body language experts to comment on his posture, how his arms are positioned and what he does with his hands. Some will be outraged he has "victim shamed" his accuser. The young man is in a pressure cooker, at this point. Many will argue it is a circumstance of his own making, but this is a very real and specific charge -- a branding that will never be fully neutralized. I wouldn't begrudge him any fear and trepidation he might feel.

I guess we'll just agree to disagree if you or (his legal team) thinks he wouldn't be better off making a strong public denial of this.

I would submit his silence is being read into more than any statement he could make.

All of this parsing of incremental pieces of evidence is inconsequential. The NFL said they believe the defendant, at her word, and with the pictorial evidence on hand so it's now up to him to sway them against their already in-line and popular-in-public thinking.

I don't even want to go there, since she would probably be awarded in civil courts, but this old boy Zeke is playing an all, or nothing game.

I hope and wish he's innocent and gets treated as such..

Yeah but you can't expect him to know how she got the injuries if they weren't by him. It's like telling a suspect you are guilty unless you can prove someone else is guilty
Exactly. I wonder how many people would like to defend themselves using that same logic. I guess all of them will turn into a bunch of modern day Richard Kimbles looking for the real abuser smh

Gotcha...I still use a flip phone and couldn't send a text if you put a gun to my head. Guess I need to get with the times....
I am willing to bet most people browse this site from some sort of mobile device and here you are camped out in front of a desktop.

Again, unless she beat herself up, there is at least one person that knows what happened. Assuming Zeke is not guilty, he needs to find them and bring them to his appeal hearing.
