$10mm in a cap hit over 2 years is not a HUGE deal.

JJ/Stephen can deal with it. We can take a few million of that hit, if necessary, this year, and the remainder next year.

Let's say we decide to take $3mm to $4mm this year and the rest next year, that's not going to stop the Cowboys from getting a CB like Carr in FA plus a decent Safety in 2012.

I would take the entire hit next season.

As would I.

But let's think realistically, we're probably not going to use every cent this year anyway. Even if we take a couple million hit this year, it's not the end of the world.

We'll be fine.

Jones should strip the visiting owner's box bare and leave them a couple of metal folding chairs, a warm sixpack of Old Milwaukee and a half-eaten bag of pork rinds... ;)

Why you gonna waste the pork rinds tricky?

Josh Ellis just tweeted that the team is splitting 10 million dollars up. Five this year and five next

OK, there we go. I still think we can land a quality CB and a few mid tier FAs.

This all makes my head hurt. I'm going to go take that out on my workout now. I'm really not pleased by this crap at all, even if it turns out to not be a big deal in terms of how it effects FA, it still just bugs me that this kind of bs is going on.

Any money not used this year can be passed on easily into 2013.

Since the other teams in the NFL pushed for this penalty, and the Boys and Foreskins are top teams $$$ wise its collusion and jealousy on the part of the other teams. Even tho there may have been a "verbal agreement" about this cap stuff for 2010, and an agreement between the NFL and NFLPA its probably something that could be legally challenged.

If other teams did some of the same stuff it could get ugly. There will probably be some kind of resolution or the other teams will face some challenges and may get more than they bargained for.

I like what Trick said earlier. Strip the visiting owners box bare and make them sit on metal stools.

There's probably a bit of jealousy as well with Jerry and his money spinning stadium . . . .

The 5/5 split doesn't make much sense. This year is going to be tight against the cap, next year not so much.

They should have gone 2/8 or just full 10 next year.

Sure it's a big deal. It's 10 million to acquire talent lost. All because of the incompetence of our front office.

It's a huge deal and instead of everyone focusing on the league and concocting some anti-Cowboys conspiracy they ought to be looking at the two clowns running this team.

Well after some releases and restructing we can still sign a bunch of guys. I can't wait to see what we are going to do.

Todd archer tweeted it does kill the cowboys free agency plans but hurts a bit.

If that decision was made this quickly, then the Cowboys must have already known they were gonna get hit with this and already have it accounted for in our FA budget. I still think it's a better idea to roll it all over into next year, which would still allow for us to be big spenders this year and the next.

You meant to say it "doesn't" kill the Cowboys in FA, right? (Freudian slip :D )

If we're gonna sign a "quality" CB, I'd rather the league just take another 10 million. Save us from ourself like the Eagles did with Nnamdi.

If true, it would appear that we are not fighting the decision. At a minimum, you'd think that management would push it off until 2013 if they thought that they had a case and would ultimately prevail.

I think my greatest CZ moment was figuring out you were JFE. I rule.
