actually here is the statement from the Skins...

and now things get even more interesting! The one time I actually side with the skins....LOL

I thought Stephen was taking care of the cap these days. If this is the product of his labor then God help us.

So we signed players to contracts the NFL approved and only NOW it's a problem?

Yes, that is exactly what happened. It will be interesting to see how the two clubs decide to respond because they have been mum over what is the top story of the day in the NFL.

The league approved the contracts.

Gawd, I hate "fans" who give up this easy... overreact much??

It has been speculated that we had the ability to create up to 25-30 million in cap room this offseason for free agency... so worst case scenario, we now have 15-20 million... that's still enough for 2-3 quality free agents...

And if the reports are true, the Boys don't have to eat all of that 10 million this year, they can split it up into two chunks, one hitting next season (when we'll have a large chunk of dead money coming off the cap)... for all I know, they might be able to put all of it off until next season (though if they can, I don't think I would)...

All this means is we're going to be a little less active in free agency this year... which sucks, but it ain't the end of the world, the way you and a few others are acting...

Courage, Camille...

Let the "chicken littles" squawk. It's what they do. Whoa is me! Whoa is me! :laugh2:

"This is the official statement of Commanders general manager Bruce Allen on recent media reports of an adjusted salary cap for the 2012 season:

“The Washington Commanders have received no written documentation from the NFL concerning adjustments to the team salary cap in 2012 as reported in various media outlets. Every contract entered into by the club during the applicable periods complied with the 2010 and 2011 collective bargaining agreements and, in fact, were approved by the NFL commissioner’s office. We look forward to free agency, the draft and the coming football season.”

How about we not roll over a $10 million cao hit to next season?

It actually might make sense, with all the dead money coming off the cap next season... we'd still be well under the cap....

Is Goodell trying to have the public arbitrate this? It sounds like hes scared to tell them; he hasn't told them.

If they can split it any way they want, put it all off until 2013... that's when there's 20 mil plus in dead money coming off of the cap anyway... the only downside is that would mean they couldn't maximize the number of players signed this offseason by structuring deals so that the bulk of the cap hit came in 2013 (thus minimizing the hit in 2012)...

Yeah, this is really the only saving grace, although like you said it will limit how we can structure the deal in 2013, and probably make the deal a bit smaller.

Of course before all of this, it was thought we could do Spencer even if we got Mario, but thats probably out. I figure if we actually signed Mario, Spencer is gone and we have to draft a DE or OLB.

If it's $5m for this year, that doesn't really change anything then. That's not as horrible as it first seemed.

Moral to the story-- count to 1000 before posting when pissed... use the time to fully inform yourself on the subject pissing you off, so that you don't go off the deep end and wind up looking silly...

Welcome back from the ledge...

So the Skins and 'Boys fans united? Surely a sign of the apocalypse, maybe the Mayans did know something afterall

Looking forward to an official release from JJ as well
