Why would you cancel Sunday Ticket over this? The Cowboys weren't kicked out of the league.

Cowboys lose $10 million in cap space, Commanders lose $36 million in space. Can split it over 2012 and 2013 any way they want. More at ESPN.

It doesnt make any sense. Nobody EVER said ANYTHING about this being against any rule, and it was discussed ad naseum in 2009 and 2010. The NFL knew full well teams were looking into doing these things, hell it was used as justification by Dallas to give Miles Austin that weird front-loaded deal.

I can't fathom how the NFL can punish teams for legally front-loading contracts simply because they did in a year before the lockout. What about all the teams who purged salaries to avoid the dead money in 2011?

Agree.

Not only that we have a completely different CBA now.

That agreement is long over

Well, if the NFL sent out a memo warning teams not to do this and we still did it, then the Jones boys are even bigger idiots than I originally thought.

The NFL has to approve every single contract that is signed, no chance this wasnt discussed in 2010.

Anyone still think we have a chance at Nicks, Mario, and Carr? lol.... Carr IF we are lucky. Kiss Nicks and Mario goodbye! Freaking sucks!

So, the NFL has to approve all player contracts. The NFL approves the contracts, then decides they want to punish a team for something they allowed?

Good. i do not want Jerry to get any of these high price free Agents anyway. i want to keep our own players and build via the draft. I do agree that if it was the New york teams this would not happen. but if it keeps us from these high price guys i am happy.

I thought the league office had to review and approve a contract before it could be finalized?

Lulz. Buh Bye:

Mario Weelyams
Carl Neecks

The structure of contracts should be between player, agent and team. The cowboys didn't demand an uncapped year, they were given the salary freedom. RAWR

This is some major BS. So basically they are charging us $27 mil for Austin's $17 mil or whoever else we front loaded. Makes no sense.

On the bright side, maybe this means we'll rip the franchise tag off Spencer to free up some money.

I'm beginning to think Goodell doesn't like football...he sure is single handedly ruining the NFL

Out of 32 teams, we are the only 2?? I highly doubt that.

Move it all to 2013 when the cap increases. We should be fine this FA period.
