NFL Penalizing Salary Cap for Cowboys and Commanders

The players union should sue. First they don't get a raise in the salary cap this year causing more and more vets to get kicked to the curb, And now you are taking away at least 2 big market teams with room and willingness to spend on there players.

Cowboys lose $10 million in cap space, Commanders lose $36 million in space. Can split it over 2012 and 2013 any way they want. More at ESPN.

Damn, at least we got off light. Danny Boy is ****ed.

10 is doable over this and next season. Can make it 3 and 7 next year. But Commanders are excuse my language (****ed)

Hmm.

The NFL better be careful here. They may blow their anti-trust exemption.

If there was no CBA and they are imposing a price restraint, then they are arguably engaged in anti-competitive behavior and restraint of trade that would violate the rule of reason and section 1 of the Sherman Antitrust Act. I'll have to look closer at that.

But this smacks of being dangerous for the NFL.

Tell me the Skins are cursed. 38 million?

We finally get out of cap hell and the NFL hits us with a fine :D

I would like to think that the NFL just screwed themselves and violated that new anti-trust exemption.

Out of 32 teams, we are the only 2?? I highly doubt that.

Move it all to 2013 when the cap increases. We should be fine this FA period.

Yeah thats what I would do, move it all to next year.

Looks like we won't have all that space for next year like we thought though.

Got to wonder if Jerry and company knew what they did and knew it was coming.

Obviously horrible news either way.

if this is true, we should rescind the spencer tag immediately.

RGIII trade startin to look uber bad at this moment.

Might help, we won't have to sign as many draft picks. Seriously, who made this decision, Jerry Jones?

I will admit this seems simple enough to fix, just remove Spencer's tag and call it (almost) even.

Still BS though.

Actually the split anyway we want means that we don't need to do anything that silly

Why would they bring this up the day before free agency? I mean... seems like it was suppose to be a blindside. At least if more time was warranted, JJ and company could have planned for it (i.e. maybe not franchising Spencer, re-doing more contracts, etc.). Seems pretty unprofessional on the NFL's part and against the new rules. So players aren't suspended for wrongful actions during the lockout, but teams are penalized while no rule was in place? What?

I see that on Shefter's twitter but nothing on ESPN yet. If this is true and it looks like it is what a bunch of crap. How can it be considered an uncapped year if teams are going to be penalized for crossing some imaginary line. I would hope that this gets the NFLPA all fired up. Taking $46 million away from to of the biggest FA spenders by reputation is going to take some money out of a few players pockets this offseason.

What sucks is they wait until the day before free agency to announce this. This obviously changes everything.
