That if you can get the first overall pick you have a decent chance of getting an top 15 NFL QB? That is not bad I guess but the problem is teams that are drafting 1st overall usually need more than a top 15 overall QB.
For context this is the first round history of drafting QBs going back 12 years and why teams like the Cardinals might be willing to stand pat and why it is even a debate over whether the Bears go for a new QB: CJ Stround, Bryce Young, Anthony Richardson, Kenny Pickett, Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, Trey Lance, Justin Fields, Mac Jones, Burrow, Tua, Herbert, Jordan Love, Kyler Murray, Daniel Jones, Haskins, Baker, Darnold, Rosen, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Trubisky, Mahomes, Deshaun Watson, Goff, Wentz, Paxton Lynch, Blake Bortles, Johnny Manziel, Teddy Bridgewater, Jameis Winston, Marcus Mariotta, EJ Manuel, Andrew Luck, RG3, Tannehill, Brandon Weeden, Cam Newton, Baline Gabbert, Christian Ponder, Jake Locker.
Man that really just shines how difficult it is for these bad teams to draft QBs and get out of the QB purgatory. The Patriots MIGHT get a hit if they draft 1 but there are a LOT more misses than hits on that list and it is why teams are very hesitant to get back on the QB wheel if they can avoid it. It is why the Cardinals might stick with Murray and why teams are hesitant to even throw away below average QBs like Daniel Jones because they see that list and they know what is likely to happen if they try again.
