They should make a rule that allows players for a team that won their division last year can wear any pair of cleats they want. Basically 8 teams per year get cleat choices.

The first Jordan's weren't NBA legal either.

These leagues concentrate on nonsense sometimes.

CD isn't a victim, he's just in a league with silly rules.
Sooooooo, all sports, all military, all jobs that require a uniform are silly?

You guys are going out of your way to be offended. Seriously, you want to make millions, simply follow the rules. Playing in the NFL is voluntary, dude.

Think about what the term “uniform” means.

Since it’s supposedly “fun” to let a defensive end wear #4, maybe also just let players play in whatever colors they want. Just guess who is on which team.

I’m old. Leave me alone.

I noticed the league really cracked down on uniforms earlier this season. Last year and early this year half the players on the same team, including ours, were wearing different color socks. Some were wearing white and others the team color. That was Dak's "thing", wearing white socks instead of the normal blue ones every game last year. I initially hated it because I'm a uniform geek but then his play went to absolute *** when they made him go back to blue socks in week 2. Those white socks were good luck. Except, apparently, in the playoffs or against good teams.

That's right guys, I've cracked the code and solved the mystery and am really focused on the important stuff over here. I definitely have earned a job in the Cowboys' front office.

Style is part of the game for many athletes. And that's a good thing.

A good sports league encourages personal style and expression and individuality, because it's something that can get kids to actually care about the sport and want to play too.

Sports shouldn't feel like you're in the army. The NFL has the dumbest rules on uniforms and I actually think it's a barrier to bringing new people to the sport.
They allow them to do individualized cleats in designated games. They allow them celebrations. It's not like they have no ability to express themselves.

The idea of a uniform is so each team is clearly identifiable & becomes its own form of branding. What are they supposed to do, let each player customize the rest of their gear? Does the NBA or MLB?

If a person is so concerned with "style" they should go into a profession that is compatible. Besides, they can style all they want off the field and still get plenty of attention. When it's time to go to work, put on the uniform and be about what they are getting paid for. I want to watch players trying to be the best they can be as athletes not social media stars. At least that's my opinion. Merry Christmas!!

A barrier? Can you explain how? And which would you deem "a good league" because all the major sports have fairly strict uniform rules?
I have a problem with NFL uniforms in general. I wish it was like soccer, new kits every year.

It's boring

Perfectly reasonable

But I also like when the star players have a little extra swag.

It makes it easy for my young kids to keep track.
