NFL threatened to take Ceedee out of the game because of his shoes

CeeDee Lamb wore Nike Kobe 6 “Grinch” cleats vs. the Giants on Thanksgiving. There were no issues. But when he wore these green Nike air zoom pro vapor cleats on Sunday, NFL officials made him take them off at halftime.

Lamb: “I got fined a lot this year. Bro, I’m like a target. … I don’t know what I did or what I have done. If I’ve done anything, I apologize. … They said they’re gonna take me out of the game if you don’t change your shoes.”

I mean, the rules are pretty clear on this.

Is it kind of a weird arbitrary rule? Yeah, it is.

Does that mean you’re a “target” and victim because they enforce it in a very clear case of violation? No, not at all.

I can understand why the NFL wants to enforce uniform standards though. It is all a part of the image of the league.

That is the problem. You do not know. Educate yourself. Learn the rules. Ask questions. "Is this okay?" Do not gift your hard-earned money over to anyone on a silver platter for ANY reason.

This seems annoying but when I turn on an NBA game I often can't tell which team is which, so it's a slippery slope.

I really don't understand why athletes put any thought & effort into trying to "Style" while on the field. I certainly wouldn't be about giving up any money in fines over something so stupid.
If you were paid $30-plus million a year, you might be a little more stupid than you think with it.

Sooooooo, all sports, all military, all jobs that require a uniform are silly?

You guys are going out of your way to be offended. Seriously, you want to make millions, simply follow the rules. Playing in the NFL is voluntary, dude.

Did I actually day that , or are you so desperate to argue you need to ad lib?

  • The first Jordan's weren't NBA legal either.

These leagues concentrate on nonsense sometimes.

CD isn't a victim, he's just in a league with silly rules.
The league is about making money and nothing else. Advertisement is one way to do this. There are contracts between the league and certain manufacturers.

There is no place for ads for other interessts than the leagues. It hurts their revenue.

I agree and noticed Lambs feet immediately.

There’s all kinds of crazy cleats allowed lately and just figured it was about Roger’s lame attempt at allowing “fun” into the league, like the dumb end zone celebrations after a turnover.
There is something to be said about uni standardization.
Watching the NBA is like watching a series of private messages from voting to loving each other. The shoes thing is getting out of hand.
Just dribble and tackle or bat and tend to your causes and your marketing in the offseason.

Yes, but there's whining to be had. Why do expressly clear rules have to get in the way of that?
The only thing I might complain about is the fact that it seems like I see a player on at least one team wearing green shoes. That said, I don't know if they were within the guidelines of their team colors, if they got fined too, or any other exceptions to the rule were in effect, so I'm not going to complain about it.

Ok. It's about the color of the shoe, not the brand.
