NFLN: Gregg Williams talking to Jerry...not hired, only interviewed by Jags *Merge*

seems strange. but in the corporate world, people are brought in for interviews like this to basically pick their brain as to what was being done at their company to gain an advantage. Yeah, I know we rested our starters in that last game, but the guy is very good at what he does.......so it might be just to feel him out as to what was being done to stuff us. Philly did it too and to a lesser extent the gspots. Probably NOT the case, but just a thought.

I can't say that I'd be totally against it. But it doesn't make that much sense to me.

IF these rumors are true, the one thing that I am taking away from all of this is that management was not particularly happy with Stewart - or at the least truly looking for an upgrade.

Greg Williams is one of the best defensive coordinators in football. Yes, the Cowboys run a system that differs from his 4-3 scheme, but I imagine he could employ a game plan that maximizes the talent level this team currently has. If you can coach, you can coach.

Not confirmed anywhere. Jacksonville fans not even talking about it. We will see if its true or a skins fan making up BS.

Just did a quick search on google. Couldnt find anything other then him just being interviewed by Jacksonville.

Id really like to see him in Dallas honestly.

Williams turned Sean Taylors abysmal 06-07 Season into a pretty damn solid 07-08 season.

Maybe he could have a similar effect on R-Willy.

meh to many egos, i'd rather not see him here actually that's not a knock on him as a DC cause he's a very good DC.

i just don't see how and where he'd fit inn

This is NOWHERE NEAR the big reach alot of folks think it is. The 4-6 defense has ALOT in common with the 3-4 defense " look it up if you want" , it has an AWEFULL LOT in common with the Phillips 3-4. Its all a matter of semantics really. The 4-6 "named after chicago safety Doug Plank" has its origin in the 3-4. Heres how that all ties in.........Greg Williams is a disciple of Jeff Fischer, Fischer is a disciple of Buddy Ryan. Wade Phillips in fact coached under Buddy Ryan in Philly. He coached the linebackers. Think of the 46 as a jazzed up version of the phillips 34, with Ware playing the role of Richard Dent. So as you can see........Wade and Williams have much in common.

when you start looking at people to fill a position that really don't need to be filled cause you're making it up just for him, then it is a reach

Great, now 2+2 really can equal 5. :)

Kidding... I like how you were able to tie it all in.

Williams may be using us as leverage - but he'd be good anywhere in any system. The 4-3, 3-4 issue isn't problematic -- a quality coordinator can work either way.

......................The 46 has three down lineman and a RUSH end. A nose tackle lines up over the center, like in the 3-4, and the 2 other lineman line up on the INSIDE shoulders of the tackles. The rush end "Richard Dent" lines up on the outside shoulder of the offensive tackle. Its all just a matter of positioning.

There is a report that Jacksonville has just hired him as DC.

No thanks!!! We don't need or want that BUM...

well he can play in my nickel every day of the week.

Had he been outside in our nickel against the giants, we win. He would at least have forced manning to hold the ball longer or picked or tipped a ball.

Reeves is incapable of any of those scenarios, throw in the fact that he had the human bullseye in 31 behind him and we are watching the giants today.
