Please let them. He is vastly overrated on this board.

I agree... Murray is a good back .. Not great .. Pay him good back money and no more.. This is the same back that many in the past had said he consistently runs to darkness .. So why overpay for good... I thought as an organization we are trying to get away from that .. Don't get me wrong .. I wouldn't mind keeping Demarco Murray around .. But let's not jump the gun here and overpay him

I think the biggest factor in a running back's success is the offensive line.

I'd like to see if our success on the ground is more Murray or more the line. When healthy and given the opportunity he has almost always been a productive running back. I'd like to keep that for the right price.

That's correct. Emmitt Smith, Herschel Walker, and Tony Dorset all agree with you. Yet I challenge you to find anyone here that would be ok with lowballing any of them in their day. People just don't like Demarco. I call It like I see it. The detractors will regret it when we take yet another deliberate step backwards in our pursuit of that ever elusive Lombardi again.

We have plenty of areas on the defensive side of the ball to fix. Let's not add RB back into the mix.......

I wonder if it'll be a tough call for Murray. Hit the market and get as much as he can knowing there won't be another big contract after this one or stay with Dallas at a bit of a discount and have the opportunity to run behind a very young and talented oline.

I'd hope they would wait until the season is over and he plays 16 games for once.

I like the guy.

But its possible Randell gets some quality snaps and maybe he improves so as to share the load.

I definitely think at this rate of work for him he's due for another injury..

which will turn down the volume of the fat contract he will be due.

This is such a bad idea, let him at least for finish the season without getting hurt(which he has never done).the same thing happened with Lee,these guys don't seem to learn when it comes to often injured players.

I don't think people dislike Murray, though they aren't a fan of his fumbles.

I think people are hesitant to give a RB big money with good reason. They've seen a lot of cheap running backs come in and do great things behind great lines. Shanahan made a career out of this in Denver and Washington.

That being said, Murray might be special. He is on pace for over 2000 yards. I don't think just any running back can do that regardless of the line. So it would be a shame to lose him, especially to free agency.

Finding a replacement for Murray isn't or shouldn't be a priority over more pressing needs in the 1st round.

RB's should be crossed off the first round list. We can snag top quality RB's in the 3rd and lower.

4 years?

That's the max amount of years I'd be comfortable with. Keeps him until 30.

I'd like to know the $$$ before rushing to judgment. Maybe we get a discount with his injury history.

Agreed.

The first round pick should be spent on (if the draft falls in the Cowboys' favor) to a defensive end or even another offensive lineman to replace Free.

Zack is going to replace Free. We can snag a plug in OG in FA or lower in the draft. DL is top priority.

Yep, at least they aren't doing the MBIII nonsense of a 7-freakin-year deal.

It is a top priority provided you don't have to reach.

I'd luv to see them draft a DE, but not a 2nd round talent being drafted in the first round. I'd take a OL, LB or safety first... maybe even a QB.

The other thing people need to realize is that Adrian Peterson may be available next year.

Agree, give me another stud on the right side OL over a DL that is just okay.

It's really tough for me to spend big money on an RB with our current defensive situation. My heart says keep him but my brain says take that 5-6 million and invest it on defense.

I'm not sure that Randle+Dunbar+Williams+5-6 million for an extra defensive player isn't superior to Murray.

I would not want to spend a 1st-3rd on replacing him though. That to me would be worse then the contract.
