End of OTAs? The NFL Players Association is working to finalize a proposal to overhaul the offseason starting as soon as 2025, eliminating voluntary on-field work in the spring in favor of a longer training camp ramp-up, with players reporting in mid-June to early July, per sources.

Yeah, everyone is making money on the game . . . except the fans. Why not put out a less quality product . . . for those fans.

But then, I'm just an old man shaking my fist at and shouting at the clouds!

I like the idea of a longer training camp over ota's. I don't think having ota's and then vacation time between training camp was ever a good idea. That seems like a one step forward, two steps back scenario.
I agree. concentrate the practice and learning. Make camp last a week longer and above all else add some full contact practices; that is why the first few weeks of the regular season are so sloppy. The starters get so very little contact practice and play during the preseason that they are all too rusty and not ready when it starts.

Since there would be a longer TC, I don't mind this proposed change.
I guess they would have to sprinkle in Mandatory veteran days off or is that mainly a Cowboys thing? First big injury that happens, they're going to rethink this

Probably a good thing but sure that every club will have some type of workout schedule starting in late April/early May that players would have to abide by to ensure strength and weight type management. Probably classes to discuss changes in offense and defense and special teams just no on field activities especially for rookies that were drafted and signed UDFA types also.

This seems like a good idea, there is very little happening in OTAs anyway and that is why both sides are agreeing to it.

I actually agree with ramp up camps. I wonder how long that will last.

It would be good to have a longer offseason for the players, and a longer preseason for the coaching staff. I think it would still be valuable to allow non-practice meetings after the draft to hand-out playbooks, and go over concepts - especially for the rookies and newly acquired free agents. But I don't see the value in pad-less walk-thru practices. A longer training camp should make up for that. Give the teams another month to work in the summer - starting in late June.

But I would still limit training camp away from home to 3-4 weeks total.

Don't forget that players get paid a per diem during the offseason, and some (especially the young players) depend on that money to live.

The tweet says it's not, but I have to believe this is the leagues plan to set up the 18 game schedule. No OTA means a longer camp. Longer camp means preseason isn't as important. Less preseason means an opportunity for more regular season.
