NFLPA looking to end OTAs

It’s coming. You know it is.

The players are soft these days and if they can get out of practice they will.
The players don’t make that decision. It’s part of CBA so it’s negotiated with the teams. Vets probably don’t need as long in camp. Rookies need more. I didn’t like lowering the number of pre season games because it hurts the guys at the bottom of the roster who need those reps

The players collectively vote on this, they are responsible because the union does what they collectively want.

And everybody needs the practice. Letting players out of more and more workouts and practices with hitting is why most football players today suck compared to the 1990s and before. Rules are changed to inflate stats so most fans don't notice.

I could care less what they do. I just wish we had a team full of management and players that were 100% committed to playing winning football in the playoffs. No matter what changes are made good teams will exploit those changes to their collective advantage. Team like us will exploit changes to advance their individual objectives.

So i'm guess training camps will have a lot of shorts and helmet days

Longer training camp and no otas sounds like a win to me

End of OTAs? The NFL Players Association is working to finalize a proposal to overhaul the offseason starting as soon as 2025, eliminating voluntary on-field work in the spring in favor of a longer training camp ramp-up, with players reporting in mid-June to early July, per sources.

Who cares because there really isn't any difference between the OTA'S and training camps because the NFL has cut back on the number of days that teams can go full contact, which equates to bad tackling on game days...................

The players vote on the proposal but the owners approve any changes to the CBA so unless owners agree it won’t happen. But my understanding is it’s not less time just all at one time. End OTA then start camp sooner. We don’t need less total time but I could see the benefit of all the time being right before the season and not well before camp for the players to spend more home time

Players should be able to workout with team trainers, sit with coaches in the classrooms, participate in non contract drills through much of the off season.

Hey, why not just show up on game day each week and pick teams, like the kids do. And why bother keeping score? Just play until someone gets hurt or a mother yells that it's time for dinner... lol/smh

What the real goal is, is an 18th regular season game. Training camp has to be moved earlier on the calendar to make room for an extra game. So that makes the time for OTAs will be combined with training camp. Time training will not be sacrificed, it will just have to happen with more continuity rather than broken up. Preseason games may need to be sacrificed as well. In my opinion, the decision-makers need to reconsider cutting preseason games.

Somewhere down the road they will playing 18 games and players only having to show up for the walkthrough and game.
