Nick Foles Released **merged**

Personally, I think Foles would be the best backup we've had in years, and it wouldn't surprise me to see him flourish in this offense and be the next franchise guy. Would certainly hedge our bets on Dak.

But I think we're too cheap to sign him.

I would sign him in a heartbeat.

There is absolutely no reason not to sign him IMO.

Showers or Foles in the preseason? You want your young tight ends and wr to get good work? They will with Foles as the 2nd or 3rd qb.

All the idiots who said "who would you have picked for a backup?" Just got served.

Prospectively, of course.

If Romo goes down, and we really end up with a 2014 run dominating offense on steroids, we need more of a game manager that can sustain drives by dumping the ball off rather than what you'd get with Foles. Chip Kelly made him look like a god for one year just like Shanahan did with RG3. I'd take my chances with a cerebral, noodle-armed Kellen over Foles.

Freeney? Sure...but that decision probably won't come until they see what they have with the young DEs in TC. It'd be nice to have a veteran (no..not a headcase like Hardy) to help mentor these young cats for a cheap 1-yr deal, but:
A. Veterans like Freeney probably won't participate much in TC anyway.
B. Teams will now start signing veterans after week 1 to escape the guaranteed 1-yr salary clause in the newish CBA from a couple of years back. I think that's a reason why veterans like Freeney and Hardy have not been signed yet.

he actually played well under reid when he was just thrown in there as a rookie.

Instantly the best backup QB of the Romo Era.

Kitna >>> Foles and it is not even remotely close.

Foles stinks and was run out of Philly on a rail after a fluke season. I'm not saying Moore is anything either, and as Idgit and others have said if he wants to come in and compete, sure. But anyone thinking this guy is anything significantly better than Weeden or Cassel is delusional IMO.

Foles is so bad, defenses stacked the box to stop Gurley and dared him to pass, and the Rams still couldn't move the ball. After posting a passer rating of 69.0, Foles was replaced for the last four games by Case Keenum, who then put up a passer rating of 91.0.

Sounds like our season last year.

The people against this....you did see us play with Matt Casell and Kellen Moore last year right?
Foles' numbers with Philly and the Rams over the last two seasons:
376 of 648 58.0% 4215 yd 6.5 ypa 20 td 20 int 75.0

The combined numbers of every other QB who played for those teams during those seasons:
283 of 442 64.0% 3277yd 7.4 ypa 18 td 12 int 88.6

I would take all of them over KMoore

Cassel wasn't bad because he's old. He was bad because he didn't take care of the football. Foles is younger, but he's not very good.

I'm also not so sure Moore can't actually handle the job. I just want him to have to win it. If that ends up being with him competing with Foles, fine. As I said, he's not my choice, but then there aren't a lot of better choices on the market now anyway.

Cassel's arm was shot and he didn't have all that great an arm to begin with. He couldn't throw into those tight windows.

That was obvious from day 1 I saw him play. The bigger concern is how no on on the coaching staff saw what the average Joe saw. Cassel was done by the time we got him.

Cassel failed because he arm became a noodle.....don't know if it was injuries or age but his deep throw was pathetic.....and that is the exact problem with KMoore.....Foles isn't known for having a rifle but he has the size and experience that KMoore doesn't...even a small upgrade would be worth it and I think it would be a huge upgrade

You beat me to the punch and you're 100% on the money.

I don't think it's no brainer at all. I don't even like Moore but I think people who think Foles is much better than Moore probably haven't seen Foles play in awhile and are just looking at his stat line from 2013.

Again, if you want to bring him to compete............ fine. I can live with that. Prove me wrong. But if the Cowboys end up throwing 2, 3, 4 million at him to be a backup........... yuck.

But I've seen Matt Moore play. I was a huge proponent of letting Moore play last season and I saw all I needed to see. I can't fathom how an NFL has an undersized guy with a complete noodle arm as their back-up with absolutely no competition in the off-season.

I do agree with competing. But I think Foles beats Moore even if Foles throws left handed.

I don't the team cares to upgrade.

Linehan has his boy in Moore. And there is Dak Prescott.

Nobody is interested in muddying the waters with a veteran.

That would mean they would actually have to have a, gulp, competition for at the most important position on the field.

Once again, the team is going all in on Romo and once again Romo will have to carry the team, hide our GM/personnel flaws and off-season failure and cover for our deficient head coach.

Just another normal off-season in Dallas.

In foles defense, he was pretty good before getting injured......he did well for chip kelly. Then he goes to a coach who has a strong history of being not very QB friendly. How many QB careers have to die before Fisher is convicted of 1st Degree Murder?

Foles is a bum. He had one GREAT year under Kelly and has proven that he can't play under anyone else but Kelly. San Fran should maybe give him a look but even then i'd rather have Kap.
