No excuses for the Vikings

The Vikings gave up on our Achilles heel sooner than they had to.
I don’t get why that little detail is that frikken important
It's important because even the Packers, when 14 pts down and only a quarter and a half left to play stayed with the run.
It's still important because it's probably (along with stopping our running game) the best way at beating us.

There’s been many folks, talking heads and thus Zoners, who have been making excuses for the Cowboys win over the Vikings saying Minnesota lost the game because they gave up on the run. The Vikings did give up on the run,,,,,because they had to. Take the first drive for the Vikings. A 3 yard run and a 4 yard run and then the Parsons strip sack on a passing down. They didn’t give up on the run, they had to pass to get a first down. Next thing you know it was 13 - 3 and the Cowboys were dominating both offensively and defensively. Any coach worth their salt knows that the momentum was in the Cowboys favor. They were dominating both lines of scrimmage. The Vikings knew their only chance was to try and get chunk yards passing. They weren’t going to win on the ground with the way the Cowboys offense was playing. The Cowboys never punted in the 1st half.

Why Zoners would try to make excuses for the opposing team is beyond belief. It’s sad.

Has there been widespread talk about this? Or did you see one or two guys say it and then project that most Cowboys fans are saying this?

Why is it sad? Isn't this what the board is for? Again, you and people like you here like to dogpile on anyone who doesn't see things the way you do. Last Sunday was a great game to see but I feel that the Vikings were exhausted. and I feel a good portion of that was because of the prior week. We came in the game mad and we took it out on them and jumped out fast. They couldn't recover. Their body language on the sidelines was telling. If we continue to play well and we get into the playoffs, we could very well face them again. I doubt the game ends in the same fashion.

Rockport is correct. We've all seen several posters come out and make excuses for the Vikings performance/loss to our Cowboys. Why? Hmm...just look at who those posters are and realize they either don't like Dak, some aspects of this team, Coach Mike McCarthy, Jerry & Sons or are dead tired of 27+ years of not even reaching a conferencechampionship game, so they refuse to give credit where credit is due.
The issue is look at this board last week and compare it to this week. Last week, one side was all over about how the season was done. This week, the other side is doing just the opposite. This roller coaster that this entire board rides is quite comical and each of you contribute to each others reactions. You all just need to chill a bit. Last week sucked but I wasn't surprised because Rogers has always had our number. This week was awesome to see our team respond and take it out on the Vikings. We still have a lot of football left to go and the entire NFL is a mess. Anyone can win this year. That includes us. We just need to get hot at the right time but man, do we need to chill out around here (on both sides).

Bro, I will chill...

...for about 5 minutes. Then it's back to arguing with the critics!:cool::p:D

I don’t know why everything has to be so extreme around here
All things mention can be true

Dak played great
We imposed our will and
The Vikings gave up on our Achilles heel sooner than they had to.
I don’t get why that little detail is that frikken important
The last 2 minutes of first half and our first possession of second half somewhat cemented the need for them to pass more but they had opportunities earlier that they chose to pass instead of their run and I believe that was a mistake
On to the giants

I loved that win as much as anyone on this board. That was a good old fashioned butt kicking. Hope to see them the rest of the way out and all the way through to a SB win.

Having said that, the Vikings played right into the strength of this team, which is the pass rush. (It’s amazing we can finally say that after so many years of having horrible defenses for so long). It was not beneficial for the Vikings.

The Packers did the opposite. They ran the ball and won with judicious passing. It is fair to ask “what if” the Vikings had used the Packers’ recipe for success used just the week before.

The Vikings were in the same position as the Packers were. Very different result. We can expect a healthy dose of the run going forward.

Rocky, my friend, I don't know what you are talking about. Maybe you should have given a few examples of people doing what you are saying rather than just saying it and expecting folks here to just believe you because you say so.

Well I know exactly what the OP is talking about....

One special poster here had the nerve to try and discredit what Dak did against the Vikings defense by saying their secondary is ranked 28th or 29th..... okay, cool.

Now many here have ranked Kyler Murray, Tua, Aaron Rodgers and Josh Allen above Dak. No problem.... as a matter of fact, many have said that Josh Allen and Aaron Rodgers are elite.. There's no argument from me there.

Guess what though..... if this Vikings secondary was sooooo horrible, why was Dak able to do what 2 other elite quarterbacks and two higher ranked quarterbacks couldn't do and beat this "29th ranked secondary"??

Surely Rodgers, Allen, Murray, and Tua are capable of carving up a weak secondary, correct??? I mean, if Dak could do it....

The only good thing that comes from Cowboys loses is not having to see Rocky post for a week trying to insult and rile people up.

This is his 6th thread since the game Sunday. 6th!

Take a guess how many threads he made after the Packers game....

Well that goes both ways.... you, Pappy, and about 4 or 5 others post MUCH less after Cowboys victories with Dak under center. You all also come across as "disappointed" when Dak leads us to victories and make up excuses as to why we won the game.

The funniest thing ever is hearing the blame our quarterback gets for defensive lapses for losing a 14 lead. That's THEEE dumbest thing I have EVER heard in my life.

Excuse 1, they didn't have their Wheaties. This threw them off kilter.

Excuse 2, they wore the wrong socks. This led to improper circulation in their feet.

Excuse 3, they watched Beaches and were too emotionally scarred to play well.

Excuse 4, the Cowboys just outplayed, out hustled and out muscled and beat the crap outta them.

I have done the same exact thing.

I gave credit where it's due just like I always do.

I won't praise players for losing performances though the way they want us to do. I don't do participation trophies.

Yeah, I seem to remember him making a “I’m outta here thread too”

For a guy that always call others quitters, he had no problem doing that very thing…..temporarily

We understand why our fans may disappear after a loss.... we love the Dallas Cowboys.

But what's puzzling is why certain "Cowboys fans" disappear after wins, but post daily after losses..... can anybody make that make sense??

Well sometimes they are justified. Last year the Dak lovers celebrated his stats, when he ramped them up vs the Eagles High School Team or the Saints 3rd stringers.

But the win against the Vikings was legit. They proved they are worthy not just by their standings, but the win against Buffula really was a show.

Dak made no mistakes, offense and defense complemented each other, Kellen managed the game well. No / very few penalties.

Flawless win. 'nuff said.

that’s a fair question. Some people may not post after losses because they don’t want to be negative while others do it so they can vent frustration. Either way it’s their choice.

also, some have made predictions that completely backfired

Perhaps the Dallas defense holding the Vikings offense to 3 points and the Dallas rushing game playing a major part in the win had something to do with that?
