I normally would agree with every word of this post.
But what if I said "not anymore"? I don't think any game/opponent/ moment is too big for this team as constructed. Players like Dez want the limelight, players like Romo want redemption, players like Witten want their moment... It's hard to believe but I really think Jason Garrett has mentally prepared this team the way our fans have been crying for for years now. This team wants the cameras, and are completely unabashed in their game ready to take it up yet another notch for the whole world to see. This is a dog-hungry team win or lose, to play great football you cannot be afraid to fail either.
I see no fear in this team any more. The days of bullying the Dallas Cowboys are over people.
I was usually one of those that bash Garrett for doing such a piss poor job when he started coaching the Cowboys. In fact, I didn't want him to be coaching the Cowboys at all. I am now beginning to believe that Garrett is going to become a pretty good coach for this team for a very long time.
Why?
Well because Garrett has gotten this team to believe in themselves.
Each and every player has their own battles to contend with. As what you mentioned - Dez wants the limelight, Romo wants redemption, and even Witten wants his moment. I would also throw Ro McClain in there as someone who also has something to prove also.
When you have the team the can overcome their own personal inner conflicts and take that emotion and put it all out on the field, your going to get the results that your now seeing with the Dallas Cowboys.
This team has no fear and they believe that they can beat anyone anywhere and anytime. That type of confidence doesn't come with skill our talent. Thats what a coach provides for your team. Garrett provides that with this team and his philosophy is all over the Dallas Cowboys, whether its the assistant coaches or the players.
I love the attitude of this team. They play like there is no tomorrow. The best part is that were only getting started.
However, what resonated with me about his message is that its never about them. Its all about us and the team needs to focus on the "us" first and foremost before we worry about everything else. Thats the type of mentally that I believe has resonated with the entire team and they have bought into that philosophy. Thats why this team
