Noah Brown is Outperforming Amari Cooper Through Week 4

Donovan Peoples-Jones has 12 receptions for 141 yards for Cleveland. David Bell has 4 for 47. Those are the next-best receivers for the Browns, so suffice it to say that Cooper is their No. 1 receiver and drawing the most attention.

In addition to Brown. we have Lamb as our clear No. 1 with 23 receptions for 288 yards and 2 TDs. We also have Gallup back.

Comparing Brown and Cooper just based on their numbers is nowhere close to a fair comparison since it does not take into account roles. Being the No. 1 guy is far different than being the No. 2 or No. 3 because you get better matchups and less attention as the No. 2 or No. 3. We should be happy about how Brown is performing and leave it at that.

Did you watch Kupp play last week?

He is a #1, right? He somehow was able to get 14 catches on 19 targets.

Yet Cooper can only get 4 targets and 1 catch?

He had 104 targets in 14 starts. 7.42 targets per start while having to share across Ceedee, Gallup, and Schultz.

He has 31 in 4 games as a primary wr. That is 7.75 having to share with no one.

Not an apples to apples comparison because of the type of coverages they receive and attention they get as wide receivers. But, I am glad that Noah Brown is taking advantage of the opportunities he gets. He seems to be able to win one on one and find open spaces in zone coverage.

As someone else stated, I believe Catch, I hope this continues once Prescott returns. Prescott is not one to throw into tight windows or make risky throws. So Brown will need to get open faster and by a bigger margin until there is a comfort level between the players.

l always liked Noah (but I"m a homer most of the time when it comes to the Cowboys) and felt if he ever stayed healthy and had a chance, he could be more than a blocking WR. I know last year he got a small chance and dropped a couple. I could imagine if you've sat more of your years on the bench that when your number is called the adrenaline would be sky high and could lead to trying too hard.

Glad to see him finally getting a chance to prove himself and doing very well. Always good to see the guys outside the big names get an opportunity and do well. It's one of my favorite things about all sports.

The vaunted Amari Cooper always has some kind of excuse why he underperforms other WR's. He is always getting triple coverage or unfair treatment.

Not a Prescott hater at all on this side. But, he is very judicious with his attempts. I like that he doesn't turn the ball over. Great trait. But, at times that judicious nature innately has him go away from the unsafe throw even if it is the primary read.

Your unabashed love of Prescott prevents you from admitting that? Is he allowed to have a flaw in his game? If so, do tell the board what you view as his weaknesses. And please don't start with blaming Zeke or the OL or Coaches. What are Prescott's his flaws in your eyes Roy?

Yep Cooper Rush and Noah Brown seem to have a chemistry that you wouldn't expect backup players to be able to project in actual NFL games.

Rush and Brown worked a lot together. Noah didn’t get a break in the starting line up for a while.

Proof is the fact that WR1 generally gets more attention from defenses than WR2 or WR3 or WR4. Football 101.

Unless, you think Brown is a WR1 in Dallas or equal to the WR1 in Dallas.

I have been complimentary of Noah Brown and gow he has played. Just because Cooper is no longer a Cowboys player does it mean he stinks and I have to hate him. I'm not a teenaged fan. Smh

20M for other players? Last count we had that left on the cap and chose not to sign another player (miller anyone?)

Its about managing the roster. Cooper was overpaid, wasnt worth the money and we have plenty of other capable pass catchers.

Were 3-1 with our backup QB. Dont need Cooper.

did you happen to see how much top WRs got paid this past offseason? Relatively speaking, Coopers contract became pretty reasonable. And are you trying to save Jerry’s money?
We gained nothing really and lost talent at a group we were thin at. Keep Cooper one more season and then we have lost nothing but Jerry’s money but kept a top talent. Not sure how people are arguing this.

I completely understand what you are saying and agree with you mostly ...... I like Dak and have always said he was between 13-7 on best QB list.

But what bothers me is in 6 of the last non NFC east games ...... He has played poorly, including a playoff game.
I think he will bounce back and play well again but it's been a trend where it seems he only beats down teams in his own division.

So I can understand where people fear (or in the haters case hope) that he has regressed since his injury.

Cooper is not as good as Kupp and didn't deserve to be making $20 million. Lamb also is not as good a Kupp. Few receivers seem to be.

Its really hard to compare without knowing how Cooper would have done with the star on his helmet and what Brown would be doing in a browns uni!
