Since theebs heard it on the radio and he's one of the more respected posters, there's little doubt that he heard it exactly as he wrote. Add to it, that he identify it as speculation.

A blog entry by Matt Mosley was later posted in the thread confirming the rumor. But at this point, that is exactly what it is, a rumor.

I skipped to this last page so missed how the screaming about this possible signing. The way I understand it is we can't trade for him because we'd be stuck paying him his March 4 bonus. I wouldn't expect any team to be willing to do that (maybe the Commanders) unless they very sure he totally healthy. But I'm hoping somehow we get a chance to present our case to either him or to his agent. Our case: we got TO, we got WR coach Ray Sherman, we are a legit SB contending club, we got a great young developing QB, and we really need a legit quality starting #2WR opposite TO who can handle the #1 job should injuries/retirement occur. Also as a premier team, we constantly get max prime time appearances so the NFL would consistently see his great play, etc. Because of his knees, I'd also pay him as little as possible but with real incentive bonuses -- something similiar to TO's but not anywhere near that kind of money.
