Norm just did a segment on the cowboys and wr's. He said from what he has been told and what the speculation is on a wr for Dallas is that there have been discussions with Dallas and Denver.

Apparently the deal right now is Javon Walker for a 5th round pick.

he did mention the possibility of Roy Williams still, but thinks giving a 5th for a player like walker who can step right in would be hard to pass on. he also said this is a move a super bowl team makes.

then he went into how this would allow us to use our high picks and corners and backs.

I'm not sold on Walker, he was hurt in Denver, so we will have to see if he and Glenn and be effective?

Walker for a 5th rounder is fine with me. Although he's a WCO WR, so I wonder how he'll do in this offense.

Hmmm...well for a fifth or sixth rounder this is a move you can make and see if it works out, provided what the money situation is going to be with Javon.

Anything more than this though would be very stupid with Walker. I'd still rather go after a Berrian or draft a guy rather than take Walker though.

I'm not too crazy about Walker with his Knee and his attitude. However, a 5th round pick if true will not be too bad, as long as the contract is incentive heavy. When healthy he is a hell of a wr.

Yeah a 5th Rounder is definitely a good deal in this case. Winning solves everything. If they win, Walker will not be a pain. Period.

Make the draft choice conditional and maybe its not a bad move --but the collection of bad knees is making me a little nervious

I don't know for sure about Walker's head, and I don't know about his health. He's a talent though, and he did step aside for Brandon Marshall. Of course, he complained afterwards.

Anyway, if Dallas were to bring him in on a cheap, one year, prove yourself kind of deal, it's not bad at all. I assume that is what people mean when they say it's a Super Bowl type move. If you bring him in, give him a lot of money, and put yourself in a position where you have to completely rely on him, it's not wise at all.

I'd be tempted to make a move on Walker for a late pick and a short deal. But it's one of those things where I would need it to be on my terms instead of just his.

For a 5th rd I would do it.

for a 5th round pick I have no problem with it. He's a young playmaker and if it doesnt work out all we've lost is a 5th round pick which would of been a project pick anyway. So i'm all for it.

That's what I think as well.

Make the pick conditional, unless you are really sure of Walker's knees holding up.

So much depends on Walker's knees holding up. I guess JJ has had (or will have) various doctors checking out the situation, like he did with Canty before we drafted him.

Conditional on what basis, his knees?

He can use TO's hyperbaric chamber, and everything will be OK. :)

A 5th is pretty fair.

...for a fifth? Yeah, I'll buy that.

This doesn't address the position long-term though. We still need to find some youth at the position.

This doesn't exactly "WOW" me though.

Make it on playing time --if his knee blows out -you don't lose the draft choice
(I guess unless it is this years)

His attitude isn't completely awful, but his creaky knees would bother me.

The positive for his attitude is that he would be close to Darrent Williams family in Ft. Worth.

But those creaky knees...~sigh~
