Norm Hitzges tears Jason Garrett a new one

As far as trusting the offense.....I'll throw this out to consider.

Garrett was so surprised on the Romo to Dez pass for a 1st down completion at the 30 with 27 second's to go......he hadnt thought about the situation or his 2 timeouts remaining or the next play for a closer FG.

He had only considered the options if and when as he thought, the play would result in an incomplete pass.....

That is why the complete confusion from that point foward to end of regulation.

He didnt trust the offense......

Oh I'm sorry, did I say he was unqualified? I could have sworn I said he was lacking experience. I guess to you, that's the same thing. You can't even find it within yourself to admit he's made mistakes, and you wonder why these guys always argue with you.
I'll bet you 1000 bucks I can prove this comment wrong. Want to take the bet or just save face and eat crow?

If this is the case it shows inability to perform as head coach and OC at the same time.

Is that what this conversation is about? Whether I've read every post you've ever made regarding Garrett? Instead of turning this into a pissing contest, how about we stay on topic? We are talking about this conversation, not every conversation you've ever had.

I never realized that the Green Bay Packers are too tight to hire an Offensive Coordinator. Apparently New Orleans too.

Guys, come on. NFL teams follow success trends and right now Head Coaches acting as Coordinators is having success.

When are you youngun's going to learn not to get into a football argument with Hostile...............I think most of you need to quit reading football newspaper columunists and listening to TV sports critics and read some books on NFL football!!!

Garrett deserves getting torn. No reason to not try calling timeout earlier or at the very least call timeout rather than spiking the ball to kill the clock and then calling timeout as the team is about to kick.

Amateurish all the way around, but that's what happens I guess when Jerry continues to refuse to hire a quality HC.

22 years. 7 HC's and only two quality HC's among them. The bulk of our lack of success over the last 15 years falls squarely on Jerry and his incompetence and ego.

I have always thought Garrett was setup to fail....Either he was going to fail which is happening, or he would succeed and Jerry wouldnt be able to handle his success and he would get the Jimmy treatment.

Personally, I would expect someone who hasn't been a head coach before to make rookie mistakes like we are seeing with Garrett. Unless you think he is some sort of prodigy immune to the realities of leadership and growth it is normal. This is why I would have preferred a different battle tested coach.

We can squabble over how much experience he gained while a player or assistant but until you are in the big boy seat all that stuff, while helpful, can never fully prepare you for the top job. How heroes of the past handled it isn't relevant to the now either, Garrett is not them.

Nah you're wrong. This is a very talented team that's had some recent success after a long string of mediocrity. Clock managment is a prerequisite for coaching success. Garrett's clock execution of this important coaching skill was sorely lacking against the Cardinals. If you love the team there's nothing wrong with wanting the best and stating that you want to see better from the head coach. It certainly doesn't make you part of a mob mentality.

Nah, I got it right. A mob.

1st place in the NFC East is failing?

You've lost whatever you had left of your mind.

all the people that thinks Jason Garrett is not doing a good job has lost their minds.

You have to admit this is a down year in the NFC East and we have stacked our wins against a few bad teams. Yes we could have beat some good teams at the same time but we blew it. Hence, the failing. He was in charge of the 2 biggest collapses in Cowboys history as well as one of the biggest plunders. Would you call that a success?

If we got through all that and yet we're still in first place in the division and 7-5 in his first year as a head coach with not much experience?

I can't imagine how you see that as failing.

I call winning the NFC East, a winning record, and a united team a success.

Are you going to sit there in a haze of smoke and tell me that every year of Tom Landry's 20 consecutive winning seasons was virtually free from turmoil?

These things are revered by intelligent people, and you have always been intelligent anava. Take off the bitter blinders and look at what is being built. If you see failure, become a fan of checkers.

Lets be clear. As my posts imply, I don't care much for Garrett but he definitely is not failing so far. The schedule has been easy and I do think we could have done a little better, but the team is in a good spot to get into the playoffs which would be a successful season if we can make it.

if you had told me before the season we would be 7-5 and in 1st place in the east this late in the season i would take it....

the thing is they have to close out the season and make the playoffs. we have to make the playoffs or else people will look back at all the missed opportunities throughout the season. if we make the playoffs all those fatal errors will be forgiven.
