I'm all for improving any position, but I don't buy that we necessarily need more production from the #2 WR. We need a few more big plays, and more possessions off of turnovers from the defense, and to improve our kicking game.

It'd be nice if the big plays came from the #2 WR, but they can also come out of the running game (Felix) or from the TEs (Bennett) or from any of the WRs in our regular packages (Ogletree). More than anything, we need to insulate ourselves so that injuries don't badly compromise the things we like to do on both sides of the ball.

Indeed, Idgit.

What do Jerry Jones, Stephen Jones, Wade Phillips, Jason Garrett, Ray Sherman, and Tony Romo all have in common besides the Dallas Cowboys?

They all have publicly disagreed with you on these takes about Roy Williams. Go figure, all those football guys...

No they don't. They don't say Roy doesn't suck.

Why do you have to be a RW basher if you're unsatisfied with his production. Can't you just be unsatisfied with the production from the #2 WR?

A lot of the hopes for another SB lie at the feet of the number two WR.

YOu said much more succinctly what I would have liked to have said. Hes the only top WR I have ever seen admitted he needed to play better but really what gets me is that ALL of his teammates like him and Romo, Garrett, Sherman and Wade have all made a point to back him up.

The message comes from the top to try and save face on the trade. Jerry isn't ready to give up on Roy yet so no one else can speak ill of him.

How many Cowboys starters have anybody in the FO talked badly about while they were with the team? Even TO was defended by the whole team until he was cut at which point no one said anything except he was highly productive during his time with the team.

What anyone will say in the media means next to nothing in a situation like this.

Even after they cut him next offseason, no one will say anything bad about RW. It just isn't the way this franchise operates.

They won't cut him until after this next season if they really are going to cut him. They'll give him one more season to try and prove himself, after that it's all on his performance if he stays or not.

The year has been bought already so no one in their right mind denies RW is going to be around next year.

I just think this team is probably better without RW blocking the #2 WR spot. If it is truly an open competition and let the best man win, I really don't mind RW being around - he isn't much of a hindrance to the franchise under these conditions.

I just don't RW back with a guarantee of being the starter. I want him to have to win his playing time in TC and pre-season. Let's see if he has any fight left in him - I really don't think so. He'd crumble under the pressure and we'd know he was done without having to play the whole season. There is actually more than enough footage to settle the issue but no way the coaching staff would ever let the public see how bad RW is out there.

Firmly disagree with this.

The guy has too much talent to cut. You stick it out with him, and hope he turns it around.

Because if he DOES, he will be a MAJOR asset to us.

He's not guaranteed a starting position according to JJ and WP in their end of the season press conference. They've stated that TC will feature an open competition, which I hope is true. Just watch Ogletree step up and take over WR2 spot, I would love to see Austin/Ogletree w/ Crayton as the slot and RW11 as the WR4. RW11 will not be guaranteed anything other than his paycheck for this next season, at least that's what I'm hoping.

You guys are in denial.

He has no speed, quickness or toughness left in him. His hands are suspect and he has developed aligator arms. How is he going to resurrect his career? What skills does he have to build off of?

All I see is a tall guy with marginal strength.

That's all I've ever asked for - make him earn his playing time.

Give me a break. Like that happened with TO. They even go through and detail the things they do together what they plan for the future etc. If they did not like him they would deflect the questions and they certainly would not sit there and high five and smile etc together every time we see them together.

I find it interesting that you are pretty much willing them to some conspiracy for Jerry Jones sake.

His problem wasnt getting open. He caught some passes, hitches etc and was able to do things with them. His hands have been absolutely horrible and his confidence is shot for sure but he hasn't given up on it nor have his teammates. I will side with them.

Despite what the haters may say, this is certainly true.

No its because basically thats all you guys parrot over and over again. JFE and Galloway put in more insight than you guys do.

I've backed up my "parroting" with plenty of supporting "insight". Pointing out the truth is hardly "parroting".

Most of the time he was targeted he was far from wide open. No more than say Crayton who at least can make the tough catch. Our own coaching staff has admitted that Roy isn't going to be a guy who generates much separation - the QB has to throw it and then he has to use his size and strength to go up and catch it. This is the game Colston plays. This is where RW really let down this year - he couldn't make a catch unless completely wide open and then even dropped a number of those as well.

I just don't see the skills he will use to rescurrect his career. The league knows his speed is gone and he cannot threaten over the middle. He cannot run most routes in the playbook due to sloppy footwork. There are just no skills to resurrect his career. He will have to completely re-invent himself and he is just too lazy to do it.

That is you view evidently not shared by all even members of the staff. I'm not going to defend his play this past season but this idea he is scared is a crook, he took some big hits this year and has in his career yet he continue to go over the middle. He did drop some passes this year he also had passes that where poorly thrown to him this year. Dallas did not make this deal to just walk away after 1.5 seasons

I wouldn't say denial, as I was never that big of a Roy fan to begin with.

He has a long stride which gives him straight line speed. He caught a 66 yarder against TB and didnt get caught.

His hands are suspect because he has no confidence. Simple as that. IF he can regain some confidence, he has shown his ability to catch a football. It's a good ability. He has very strong hands which is a major beneficiary if you can actually catch the ball cleanly, something he did not do in 09.

I'm not saying he's going to be a Pro Bowler, but what we have in Miles and Witten, Roy would be a perfect compliment if he can ever regain some confidence and play how he's capable of playing.

or the IGS is just in their normal attack mode.

the things you say he doesn't have left - well, you don't lose those in a poker game or to pay off old debt. for 1 i don't think i ever considered him SPEED receiver ala Glenn. so that's just a rathole you throw out to build a list.

quickness? what are you using to measure this? i don't wanna go one way while you meant another. but again it just sounds like make a list that sounds cool cause once written people believe it.

toughness? how do you know? do you hide in his closet and hear him cry himself to sleep at night? again, it just seems like poo-on-the-wall to see what you can make stick cause you don't care for him.

i loved roy in college but never saw much out of him in detroit to think he made a successful change / advancement. then again, that was detroit.

what you see in austin/romo today has been years in the making, not just an example of how 2 people can play together at random. yet people want that same production out of williams RIGHT NOW cause damn it, my tv is on. entertain me and make us a winner.

is roy worth what we're paying? no. but then again i'm not paying a dime of his salary so i don't really care what he's getting paid. did austin have a better year? hands down. will he get paid? to be sure.

will people while about austin next?

to be sure.

roy is simply "low hanging fruit" for lazy journalists in much the same manner TO was. to find another story would take work and research and the short attention span of todays society won't make that pay off.

we're in effect breeding laziness but that's another topic.

i have no idea if roy will ever pan out or not. but if the team decides to keep on trying, i'm gonna pop my popcorn and hope it works out. others seem to think screaming HE SUCKS in a forum is more productive.

to each their own.
