Some posters have been mentioning that there is no benefit to cutting a Williams or a Barber in an uncapped season, but i think they are missing the point that it is not this season, where the benefit takes place, but next season.

A salary cap, will almost certainly, be part of a future labor agreement and getting out from albatross contracts this season, versus a future capped season, is where the benefit lies.

I'm not joining either side of the Williams discussion just pointing out the advantages of cutting players in 2010.

I think they cut Barber, almost a certainty, Williams probably stays.
The thing 99% of the posters who scream about players being cut don't realize is that this means we create a hole. You have to fill that hole. It is fine to sit around and chirp about Ogletree could fill that hole, but based on what proof? Crayton started for an injured Terry Glenn and did a passable job, but in reality, did he fill the hole left by Terry Glenn?

Right now, the Cowboys do not need to Draft a WR or a RB. They don't need to go find one in Free Agency.

Everyone love to do the cute little > stuff about players who are better than others.

No glaring holes on the team > tired little agendas about players people don't like for whatever lame *** reason.

I don't care one way or the other if we waive Barber or Roy or trade them or whatever. Except that I know it creates a hole in the roster that has to be filled. Hurray for common sense.

I keep wondering when people will get over their agendas long enough to listen to Jerry, Wade, Jason, and Tony when they talk about Roy. I apologize to every poster who disagrees with those 4 guys, but I give their opinions a hell of a lot more weight than I do guys who are hung up on 9 million dollars, 1st and 3rd round picks, and Roy's passion for his alma mater.

I try and avoid these threads completely because they are so mindless. Now and then, I get pulled in like I did this one. It'll go in one ear and out the other for way too many people. C'est la vie. I personally have never wanted to look like an idiot. Just don't see the attraction of it.

I agree with this and it is the reason why i believe Roy stays.

Barber on the other hand.. i have heard no endorsements from the four mentioned above when it comes to 2010 and beyond.

'Thank you for noticing. No joke. Thank you. People take me way too damned seriously'

Just a little side note regarding this statement.

I think some people do take you too seriously, and i am probably guilty of that as well.. however Hostile, your posts sometimes, only sometimes, come across as too personal perhaps.

Sometimes while reading a thread i cringe inwardly at some of the derisive comments you toss at people. But i have to remind myself that as often as i am on here, you are on more. And while i can stop reading some threads that get juvenile and silly with the same posters (and you know who you are LOL) going round and round, you as a moderator have to wallow on through.

I guess what i'm saying is 'until i walk in anothers shoes' right..

Maybe you can tone it down just a little sometimes :laugh2:

Nor have I to be truthful, but I think he stays too. Let the rueing begin.

The way I post on here is exactly the way I am in real life. I see no reason to be fake. I joke constantly. The thing is, in here people can't see me laughing.

Very few people who know me away from this site, take me seriously except when the chips are down. Some here have learned to roll with it. Does anyone really think I swill Nyquil?

I will almost always jump on a stupid statement. Others do too, but I am the one people take seriously and get offended by. Ah well, such is life.

That is certainly a true statement, without a doubt. I have seen a lot worse, consistently mind you, from other posters and they never get called on it.

You think Barber stays eh.. I like the guy, but i believe he is gone.

Why do you have to be a RW basher if you're unsatisfied with his production. Can't you just be unsatisfied with the production from the #2 WR?

A lot of the hopes for another SB lie at the feet of the number two WR.

We need better production at the #2. I don't care where we get it. From RW, the draft, FA, within or by committee.

I think we draft a WR IF one is there in the second or third who may be able to fill the bill LATER on down the road. You can't stop drafting esp if its a postion of need.

So very true, which is why I usually keep quiet in these type of threads nowadays. The funny thing is, if these same two players, Barber and Roy, where on another team having these same issues, we would have people on this board clamoring for Jerry to "get er' done" and bring either Roy or Barber to Dallas. But since they are on the Cowboys then that means they are "bums" and need to go asap. That's just the way it works.

Humor is the hardest thing to read on a forum. A few "LOL's" here and there could fix that.

I agree. I like RW but he must produce and he hasn't. I know he has 7 TD on the season but he is not making a big impact for the team as Austin has or as Witten has. We need him to be more of a factor in games.

Hos, it's not hard to replace suck.

Minny, the Giants and Chicago happened to get similar production to Roy last year from the draft.

....except for the awe-inspiring 7 TDs of course.

I think Roy sucking is a pretty good reason.

Again, not that hard to fill.

I listen to Jerry, and he said that Austin is going nowhere because they, and I quote, "need him". Without Austin they have 2 possession receivers (Witten and Crayton) and one who pretends to be one (Roy).

What do Jerry Jones, Stephen Jones, Wade Phillips, Jason Garrett, Ray Sherman, and Tony Romo all have in common besides the Dallas Cowboys?

They all have publicly disagreed with you on these takes about Roy Williams. Go figure, all those football guys...

I'm all for improving any position, but I don't buy that we necessarily need more production from the #2 WR. We need a few more big plays, and more possessions off of turnovers from the defense, and to improve our kicking game.

It'd be nice if the big plays came from the #2 WR, but they can also come out of the running game (Felix) or from the TEs (Bennett) or from any of the WRs in our regular packages (Ogletree). More than anything, we need to insulate ourselves so that injuries don't badly compromise the things we like to do on both sides of the ball.

Roy Williams should not be cut under and circumstance, i believe he will become the number 2 guy and i'm willing to bet he has more TDs than Austin due to him being a bigger body in the redzone and his total reception count will be comparable.

I believe it will all come out as 1. Miles, 2. Roy, 3. KO, 4. Crayton and we won't need to make a huge move at WR(well unless injuries strike).

We need to score points. The best way to do that is with a balanced attack where all the weapons are available and working well.
