You Roy William's enablers make me laugh.

1st it was he helps us win despite sucking as a receiver.

And now it's he's Alvin Harper. Funny, FUNNY stuff. You guys don't lack for imagination. That's for sure.

I'm sorta stuck in the middle bob. I hate the existence of the blood sucking leech that is Roy Williams but I know how incredibly stupid it would be to outright cut him in an uncapped year knowing what could develop if he is given a little more time.

I hate that Roy has placed me in the middle...

Yeah, it would suck to cut Roy and have him blow up at 32 years old elsewehere:laugh2:

The fact is there is very little benefit to cutting him. It doesn't make sense to cut someone because they had a bad season if there isn't an upside for you in the deal. It's called cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Besides there's a different dynamic at work here that could help RW heading in to next season and it's worth a shot to find out what may occur with that. Last season all the pressure was on him to come in and perform as the #1, and of course he flopped at that big time. I think it's definitely worth a looksee now that that pressure is off his shoulders knowing Austin is that guy now.

All he has to do is come in with his hard hat on and give decent production. We've seen the worst he has to offer, there just isn't a good reason not to see if we might get at least an average season from him this year because truthfully ... that's all we need.

Its called supporting someone that is a Dallas Cowboy, comes in and work hard, has kept his chin up and owns up to his subpar play.

People that bash players like that and call themselves fans and supporters of the team make me sick. I was one of the people that was adamantly against bringing in Roy Williams. After SD picked up Chambers for a 2nd I felt that the asking price was ludicrous and the market did not bear it.

Now that he is here, he is like family. I do not badmouth the people that I love. I do not bash my friends and family and while it may be sad I do love my Cowboys if not as much. I certainly do not give up on them.

While I may be critical at specifics, RW11 is doing and saying the right things. He starts his workouts at VR before the schedule begins, he comes in early and works hard, he stays after practice and works out, he takes additional time with Tony, his team loves him, his coaches support him, he keeps his head up and cheers his teammates on as his snaps are diminished and he keeps on plugging away and he never gives up.

I to this day hate the trade but I am not such a numbskull that I cannot differentiate between the trade and the player because they are not the same thing. While the trade was the worst personnel decision since the Galloway trade, that is not Williams fault and he is doing the right things.

I simply believe that if he continues to do the right things he will come around. His issue has been his hands and that was once known as a strength of his. I see no reason why that could not come back to form as he has shown he can still get separation and he still knows how to use his body to shield off defenders.

What I find pathetic are people that are only satisfied with instant gratification and write people off. If RW11's work ethic were like Matt Jones I would understand but I will always support someone that tries hard and will never badmouth them.

It sure was impressive back in the Super Bowl 90's when it was Alvin Harper.

My how things are forgotten.

Thanks to Ologan, I was watching the 93 cowboys eagles monday night game from december of 93. It was the next game after the leon lett turkey day game..

anyway, during the broadcast I found it interesting that Dan Dierdorf said in talking to the cowboys coaches that they were dissapointed in alvin harper and that they thought they were getting another michael irvin but harper was nothing like him!

Its weird because looking back on that time period I just didnt remember little things like that, and I guess it makes sense considering he left after 94, must have meant the team was not that impressed with him behind the scenes!

and I also just re-read mike fisher's stars and strife and never realized that on the field before the 91 cowboys bears wild card game at soldier field, before the anthem the bears had the guys from saturday night live who did the the "da Bears" skit come out to the 50 yard line and do it and they were laughing at the cowboys!!!! I have never read that before, at least I dont remember it! The cowboys players were livid!

anyway, I am putting together my library of old games to start trading and I am completely immeresed in old games. I have nothing from 1990 and I am dying to see that whole season and I cant find anyone with games from that year!!!!! Just thought I would share.

I am sorry but as disappointed as I have been in Roy's play.

I do not cut a guy who had a bad year and still caught 7 TD's.

It too soon.

Absolutely.

Let's continue the experimentation with this ... veteran?

We have years to experiment, right? The NFL will stay static while we offer a tryout camp for a pedestrian receiver? For years if need be. And at a high salary.

Some posters have been mentioning that there is no benefit to cutting a Williams or a Barber in an uncapped season, but i think they are missing the point that it is not this season, where the benefit takes place, but next season.

A salary cap, will almost certainly, be part of a future labor agreement and getting out from albatross contracts this season, versus a future capped season, is where the benefit lies.

I'm not joining either side of the Williams discussion just pointing out the advantages of cutting players in 2010.

I think they cut Barber, almost a certainty, Williams probably stays.

Very well put. I guess I would be cool if people would quit throwing Roy's 7 TDs all around the place like that's some kind of accomplishment.

I don't know, I'm just sick of the bull **** justifications. 1st it was he contributes in other ways and isn't an ***, so that's a success in itself. And then ignoring his crap-tastic receiving performance by jumping right to his 7 TDs. It's quite annoying.

Poor Barber. At least he contributed to the offense.
And we get to keep that famous guy from UT.

You must think that owning up for bad play and saying all the right things includes BS like saying the balls in his direction aren't as catchable as other receivers.

Roy Williams would have far fewer people talking poorly about him if he wouldn't have come out with all the BS.

All the "I'm the #1", "I'm this and I'm that" did nothing but make people laugh.

I would have far fewer negative things to say about him if he would have just kept his mouth shut. I'm not big on excuses. And neither am I big on the "7 TDs" garbage or any other means of justifying a piss poor season.

Countless drops and excuses combined with poor overall play and a lack of production will get you some badmouthing. Not everyone is so forgiving just for the wearing a Cowboys jersey and giving it your best shot. If that makes you sick so be it. Calling a dud a "dud" shouldn't make anyone pissed.

The only reason Williams is not worse than Galloway is because we are a better team making the 1st and 3rd we gave up worth much less than the two 1sts we gave up for Galloway.

In terms of ability and production, Galloway was an upper echelon #2 during his stay here despite terrible QB play and went on to put up some excellent numbers with mediocre QB play after he went to Tampa Bay. RW11 is just a poor #2 WR so you're stuck with a position blocker at a time when we are trying to contend for a SB which is an almost greater sin.

Now you can say it is Jerry's fault for giving up too much for him. You can also say it is Jerry's fault for paying him too much. You can also say it is Jerry's fault for playing him too much. Well to hell with it - I'm sick and tired of seeing him running with those cement blocks attached to his legs while we can be searching for a proper #2 WR to play opposite Miles.

I don't hate RW but I sure do hate his presence on this team. I really wish he would just go away somehow for at least a year so we can develop a #2 and then Jerry can let him go.

That'll free up RW's time to go hang around on UT campus and return to his glory days.
